Nintendo reveals that Nintendo Switch Online service has over 38 million paid subscribers

switch online + expansion pack latest update

We haven’t heard much about subscription numbers for Nintendo’s paid online service Nintendo Switch Online as of late. However, the Kyoto-based company confirmed this morning that they currently have over 38 million paid subscribers worldwide. This includes both the base Nintendo Switch Online and the higher tier Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Nintendo would not disclose how many subscribers were on each plan.

  1. Well (approximately) 75 million a year for some old games and services that used to be free is great business strategy.

    1. Use to be free? None of that use to be free except online play which all co soles charge for now because you use their servers.

    2. Missing a 0 in there, base online is $20(USD) a year

      $20 x 38,000,000 = 760,000,000

if you include some people being on the expansion price it’s probably higher then 800,000,000

      1. Yup, all them zeros are mind boggling sometimes. What if they could throw one my way? Maybe? Ah, don’t kid myself.

  2. They lost approx. $80 million a year in lost salesof Mariokart and its DLC (not to mention losing market share to Steam Deck now) because of paid multiplayer. Idiotic move, DO NOT PUT UP OBSTACLES FOR PEOPLE TO PLAY GAMES TOGETHER THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SELL. I would have bought 4 copies of Mario Kart 8 for me and my kids if multiplayer was free… Instead we play GTA5 and Minecraft. Good job Nintendo.

    1. They lost 80 million a year on Mario Kart? Where did you pull that nonsense stat from? I’m just gonna go head and doubt everything else you’ve stated.
