It has been a little over a month since F-Zero 99 officially received its most recent major content update. Since then, Nintendo hasn’t really said much about their future plans for the game. However, it seems that that is now going to change. And the next content added might surprise you.

You see, Nintendo has confirmed that F-Zero 99 will be updated to version 1.1.0 on November 29th in Japan, meaning that people in western regions will be able to play this update tomorrow. The update will have the addition of a new mode called “Classic Race”.

The Classic Race, according to Nintendo, will feel much more like the original F-Zero on the SNES. There will be smaller tracks, 20 racers and no spin attack or skyway mechanics. There will also be only 1 boost charge per lap, with a maximum of 3 being allowed in reserve. You can see a tweet relaying the news down below.

  1. Assuming this has online play the same way regular 99 Mode does, it’ll be interesting to see what players think, how popular it is, and how many people will play it wrong at first because they’re so used to how the other modes are structured.
