The potential for a Zelda movie is absolutely huge and Entertainment Weekly managed to get an interview with the upcoming film’s director, Wes Ball. Mr. Ball makes it very clear in the interview that he is a huge Zelda fan and says that he is aiming to create a legendary Hayao Miyazaki-style live action film which will explore the lore of the franchise and the mystical elements to create an unforgettable experience for cinema goers. Here’s what he had to say:
Ball describes his vision as “this awesome fantasy-adventure movie that isn’t like Lord of the Rings, it’s its own thing. I’ve always said, I would love to see a live-action Miyazaki. That wonder and whimsy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that.”
“It’s going to be awesome,” Ball promises. “My whole life has led up to this moment. I grew up on Zelda and it is the most important property, I think, that’s untapped IP, if you will. So we very much are working hard to do something. We’re not just trying to do it because we can. We want to make something really special.
Should have been the other way around, I’d prefer to see studio Ghibli create a Legend of Zelda animated movie, preferably with their own story during a totally different time period.
That would be the most watched Ghibli movie imo.
Yes a Ghibli animated movie would be sweet. I will take this as a positive piece of news for the Zelda movie. I hope they make an inspired choice for casting, and don’t put an actors star rating or popularity as such a high priority.
Why are comments not working on some of the news articles on the site?
I kept getting a notification when trying to post that said “invalid security token” i Googled trouble shooting techniques and all it said is that oftentimes deleting the cashe and cookies usually resolves it. I tried that and power cycling but im not sure what resolved it. I thought it was just myself but apparently others had trouble posting comments as well.
Could anyone let make know if they are still having problems?
