A new rumour is doing to the rounds online from PH Brazil regarding the Nintendo Switch 2. The content creator claims that the unannounced system will feature backwards compatibility both physically and digitally, meaning that you will be able to play your original Switch cartridges and digital downloads on the new system. He also goes on to say that current Nintendo Switch games can be enhanced, if the developer choses to update the game for the newer system. As always, this is a rumour so take it with a grain of salt.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not just a rumor, it sounds oddly like PSN. They have free next gen upgrades or for $10 you can upgrade to the next gen edition of games. If you purchase the game for last gen as digital, you get the current gen edition as well. Like 2 games for 1 price.

As Nikki stated, I think it means they’ll offer different versions of the game much like what we see on Playstation. Most games on PSN have PS4 and PS5 versions, with the PS5 versions having better looking visuals and fidelity. Buying a game gives you access to both, so you can access the upgraded version if you wanna experience the better version eventually, but don’t want to wait until you have to upgrade your console to play.
I’m going to need this to be true to play through the Xenoblade games. They’re lagging too much for me.
I’ve been hoping for performance patches for the Switch Xenoblade games for a LONG time.
What if the retro of physical games comes with a digital subscription? Let’s say you have a cartridge and put it on the Switch and somehow it is registered as yours so that it can be played on the Switch 2 via download? We know that when you insert the cartridge into the Switch it creates an icon, what if that icon means something? as well as coin points that can only be used once

All these rumors sound more like gamers’ fantasies than reality… I predict that MANY will be disappointed when the next system is announced….
That’s the most unfortunate part about hype. You’re getting excited for something that doesn’t exist yet, and it could very well be way below your expectations when it does get announced. The good thing about when it gets announced is that the rumors will stop, which is what I’m also looking forward to.

What will be the gimmick? We know Nintendo they make a gimmick and a console that’s popular. Competitors copy the gimmick and make the console 3x more powerful and then people create rumors of a Switch 2 pro when the Switch 2 barely been available for 8 months. Now I see why Nintendo takes forever to reveal new hardware.
