Tomb Raider fan who had been unofficially remastering the games revealed as lead on Tomb Raider I-III Remastered

A dedicated Tomb Raider fan, who has been unofficially working on remastering the first five Tomb Raider games for the last eight years, has announced that he is the lead on the recently released Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, which was developed by Saber Games and Aspyr. He went on to say that the fate of the OpenLara project and his other pet projects are currently on hold. He described working on Tomb Raider I-III Remastered as “a dream project.”

  1. It’s insulting to call this a “Remaster”. Looks barely better than it did on PlayStation. Yes, there’s some improvements but it’s not a proper remaster like Metroid Prime: Remastered. Now it’s confirmed that it’s pretty much a fan made project.

    1. So was Sonic Mania, that isn’t always a bad thing. (I find it really cool, and it actually gets me interested) And not everything can be Metroid Prime Remastered, especially when that is a GameCube game, and this is a Playstation 1 game. Different Generations

They have both the original and remastered graphics, which is cool, so you can enjoy it just like the OG games

    2. Having him in the project definitely makes it much better. Openlara is simple unbelievable.

In any case, being a “fan” of a game doesn’t make a developer worse to work in that game.

So in this case we have a top notch developer with very deep knowledge about tomb raider and the project itself.

Bring more “fan made projects” like this, please.

  2. That is pretty cool. A fan of a series being able to make a game for a system. Even if it’s a remake, it’s still pretty neat.
