Knuckles has the “exact same animation quality” as Sonic 3 movie

Knuckles in upcoming TV show

Total Film has chatted with Knuckles TV show showrunner Toby Ascher about the forthcoming series. Ascher informed the publication that it has exactly the same animations quality at Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which will arrive in cinemas this December. He also said that it’s bigger than Sonic the Hedgehog 1 from a visual effects standpoint as it has 300 more shots in Knuckles than the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Knuckles makes its debut on Paramount Plus on 26th April in the US and 27th April in the UK.

“We shot it back-to-back with Sonic 3. It’s the exact same animation quality,” Ascher, who is also a producer on Sonic the Hedgehog 3, tells GamesRadar+.

“It’s actually bigger than Sonic 1 from a VFX standpoint. We have 300 more shots in Knuckles than Sonic 1. It’s a TV show but feels and plays out like a big extra movie.”

“If you love what we’re doing with this franchise, this shouldn’t be looked at as something that’s an extra thing that they did on the side and the animation is not that good,” Ascher notes. “We really strove hard to make sure the animation quality on the show is as good as the movie.”

  1. I honestly feel like I would enjoy these movies more if they were fully animated, putting any well beloved media characters in a real world setting has been so overdone especially for the 2000’s

    1. Yes and as much as i love the characters the humans ones kill my interest, would have been cool an animated movie that adapts faithfully sonic’s lore.

      1. As someone who has played almost every main series game and kept up with the (canon) comics. Please no.

Sonic is best when it’s a fresh spin. Humans also play a part in Sonic’s lore (they helped create shadow and he specifically wanted revenge on humanity).

I can’t stand series like The Last of Us where it’s the exact same story I’ve already gone through. I played the game, give me something new.

        1. well I respect your opinion and my main issue with the human characters is that they are cringe and sonic doesn’t have the same attitude he has in the games at all.

yes, humans created shadow but they never adopted sonic, his backstory with the owl woman was interesting tho.

I feel happy for the people who are enjoying the movies but those productions aren’t for me.

  2. Animated movies base on any series has been much well received to anyone’s liking. I will be happy to enjoy much more of this in my spare time by seeing one of my favorite characters in it. Live action animated movies has been much well done since.
