Phil Spencer: “You are going to see more of our games on more platforms”

No matter what formats you own it was clear that Xbox had a strong video game showcase yesterday. In a recent interview after the event with the head of Xbox Phil Spencer, it emerged that the company is rolling full steam ahead in bringing its games to other platforms. While this is unlikely to affect the current Nintendo Switch system, it seems likely that some of the games showcased at the event will come to the more powerful Switch successor, whenever it launches next year. You can hear Spencer’s comments in the video below, though it should be noted that he doesn’t mention specific platforms.

  1. If by “more platforms” they mean Playstation, then what’s the incentive purchasing an Xbox.

    1. What, Nintendo isn’t a competitor? Even though they outsell everyone in hardware and software? If Xbox fans were smart that would have smelled the blood in the water ten years ago with the rest of us and got a gaming PC.

      1. Well it depends, how you look at it.. where is the money? In console sales or in software sales? It makes sense to put out software on platforms where there is a huge audience, what xbox needs to do is make up there mind about what is for them a first party title (what will never leave xbox/PC) and what can be exported to other consoles

    1. Oh man it would be awesome, and they could upscale eternal and 2016 from the og switch so you would have a trilogy on one portable system, god damnit I’m so pumped

    1. There hasn’t been a point in owning an Xbox since the 360 died. All their titles hit PC regardless day and date, it’s better to spend a little more on a prefab gaming PC than to buy into the Spencer Cult.

  2. Yes yes, we’ll get the game, it’ll sell more on switch, you’ll close the studio. We get it, you’re evil.

  3. I know it’s not the era of segs genesis, snes etc, but it was nice to have two different versions of the same game like shadowrun sega genesis versus snes but nowadays it would probably be more costly.
