Braid: Anniversary Edition creator says the game sold horribly

It has been a few months now since a remastered version of Braid, which is officially called Braid: Anniversary Edition, released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Since then, there hasn’t been a lot of information on how the game has been selling, though the game’s creator, Jonathan Blow, has been periodically giving remarks here and there on his Twitch channel about the matter.

Well, Blow has stated on his Twitch channel that the game has sold very horribly. In fact, he even says that the console platforms that the game released on “are dead now”, and that Steam is the game’s biggest platform. When he was asked about how much of his dev team are working on the compiler for Jail, a new programming language he and his dev team have been working on, Blow said that there are “none, because we can’t afford to pay anyone because the sales are bad”.

      1. Just ignore them. It’s likely the same anonymous poster that’s always trying to stir up trouble on this site

  1. I’m very surprised by this. I remember seeing this game a lot back in the day being talked about alongside games like Bit.Trip Runner and Super Meat Boy. I guess maybe it wasn’t ever as popular as I thought it was

    1. I also thought at least it would have a better sales record. I was surprised the developer is struggling with this game’s sales.

  2. That’s what they get for paving the way for the indie knockoffs craze. The game was lame on its own merits anyway. A time traveler who still can’t get the girl? What’s the point?

  3. Grossly overestimated game. It was novel for its time, but nowadays every game does what it does better. Not going with physical also hurt it a lot.

  4. At least I get to play it, provided they don’t do something stupid, like REMOVE the game from the eShop.

You’d think this was the Purrfect Bubsy Collection.

    1. Personally if they can come up with a better video game, I’d like to see it. I don’t think they can, though.
