Gaming and stock market analyst Paul Gale stated in an X post recently that major third party developers and studios are prepping “big” launch window titles for the Switch successor to make up for missing the Nintendo Switch’s legendary release back in 2017- claiming that the “NS2 [Nintendo Switch 2] will have some early, significant ports, parallel releases, and exclusives.”
If true, it would explain why many major releases over the past year have skipped the Switch– not just for the boost in hardware that will come with its successor, but also to concide with the next iteration’s launch.
In the comments, Gale pointed out the 2022 and 2023 Game of the Year award recipients of Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3 as possible launch titles for the second Switch. Other heavy-hitters from recent memory, like Atlus’ Persona 3 Reload or Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 Remake might be part of the lineup as well. Whatever the case, so long as there is a strong show of third party support for Nintendo’s next console, no one will be able to say that the Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t have games.

Mmm I bet the third party companies don’t want to be left out of launch titles like first party games.

?
If Switch 2 has achievements and Elden Ring is a launch title, I might consider triple dipping on that game
I’m praying for Switch 2 to have achievements like Xbox does. Nintendo is still considering on doing it for their upcoming systems.

Elden Ring and the Dark Souls Trilogy would be epic on Switch 2.
Achievements and trophies are just padding. If there’s something you want to achieve in a game just do it.
I’m with you on this one just 100% a game is good enough for me, achievements and trophies are like literal digital sticker
I know they’re not really all that important, but I do like how they’re basically fun collectibles for completing xyz. Plus I use trophies a way to gauge 100% completion in a game. There are some games where I don’t have any desire to collect all the trophies, but I do still find collecting some of them fun.
It’s kinda like collecting all 120 stars I a Mario game- sure you don’t need to collect them all, and the devs definitely didn’t expect you to, but there’s still a satisfaction in doing so. Honestly I’d bet it’s mostly just a mental thing for me- I like the act of collecting stuff, and sometimes a game with trophies adds to that feeling.
Dude, I am so hyped. Just imagining something like a new 3D Mario dropping at the same time as Red Dead Redemption II, Elden Ring, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth— games like that, along with Metroid Prime 4 + all of the current catalogue of the Switch + NSO retro games. That would be legendary
All of those portable on the same dockable handheld console, omg.
I’m guessing CoD will finally launch on Nintendo
i mean they had that 10 years deal
