SEGA talks what’s next for 3D Sonic

SEGA president Shuji Utsumi has touched on what’s next for the 3D Sonic the Hedgehog series after the reasonably competent Sonic Frontiers. He says that the next game is “quite challenging” for the established company and is naturally a “quite exciting game.” He was also asked whether it would be a follow up to Sonic Adventure, to which is replied that the original two games were “a game changer for Sonic.” Here’s what Mr. Utsumi had to say:

The next one is going to be a quite challenging, quite exciting game that we are working on,” he said.

But he would not divulge whether Sega was considering a follow up to the much-loved Sonic Adventure series.

“Sonic Adventure was kind of a game-changer for Sonic,” he said.

“When we release it, it should be good, it should be impressive – we need to meet or even exceed people’s expectations, so it takes some time.”

Part of the series which fans have been clamouring to see return is the Chao Garden – a much-loved virtual pet synonymous with Sonic Adventure.

Mr Utsumi said “we’ve been talking about it” – but would not go into further detail, only that he could not “say too much about it”.

  1. “We need to meet or even exceed people’s expectations”
Translation: We’re 100% not having Sally Acorn be playable in this new game or even make an appearance, you can forget the chao garden, there are no fusions especially not a fusion between Sonic and Shadow, and don’t even THINK we’ll let anyone but Sonic and/or Classic Sonic be playable. You’ll be lucky if Sonic doesn’t marry Amy Rose. Speaking of characters that don’t belong with Sonic, I haven’t made a crossover between Sonic and Mario without Mega Man in five whole minutes. I should give Nintendo a call.

    1. “Lucky if Sonic doesn’t marry Amy Rose” that’s literally what most of the fan base wants.

Also, Fusions? No one wants that, you little weirdo.

  2. First of all give the reigns of the franchise to Kishimoto and kick out Iizuka and never let him touch anything related to sonic, the latter is the kind of executive who enjoys throwing sh17 to the wall ti see if it sticks

  3. They have to meet people’s expectations if they want to see another Sonic game that has much of a good potential of the boost formula and new mechanics to appeal for new Sonic fans or advance players by using the Sonic Speed Simulator Formula.

  4. Make Sonic Twist reverse engineer it for Sega Saturn use any time travel technique any kind of time machine and make it happen in the first place by delaying original Sonic Adventure 1 that’s the first step to perfection like literally.

  5. Also instead of Sega CD Sega even with both Nintendo should partnership with Phillips CD-i without even using any kind of CGI and without using any AI.
