Now that the Switch 2 has been revealed, rumors and leaks in general should be calming down. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to go away completely. One thing that stood out in the Switch 2 reveal trailer is that there are 2 and a half months before Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct will happen. So, what is Nintendo going to do in the meantime?
Well, if insiders end up being right again, we may have an answer. You see, in the same podcast episode that NateTheHate revealed his info on the Switch 2 reveal trailer date, he also said that a Nintendo Direct that is focused on Switch 1 games would be coming in February. Since then, Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe has now said in a Famiboards post that “the February Direct is just around the corner”.
There is also more than likely going to be a Pokemon Presents presentation in the same month, so it’s possible that Nintendo decided to wait until April for the Switch 2 Direct because they have other presentations to do first. Perhaps a Switch 1 Nintendo Direct and a Pokemon Presents will help make the wait for April a little easier.

same there’s still a lot of Switch 1 games I gotta get and some I also still gotta beat i’d rather play those first I know the Switch 2 is going to be backwards compatible and I could just play on them on that but I’d rather play them on the original Switch I don’t think I’ll get it until about maybe like two or three when hype dies out and when it goes on sale and stuff lol

You don’t speak facts, as tons of people care. Even I care, and I want to get a Switch 2 at launch. Some people aren’t gonna go to the new console at the start due to price reasons or other reasons. Also, really? That username is dumb because that’s a false claim, and you can’t spell lol.

I think that’s awesome news, I’ll probably going to buy the switch 2 day one, but most of my friends are gonna stick with the og for a few years, I think it’s great that they will still get new stuff to play. Also the switch 2 is retro compatible so we all win
Yeah they have. Not only that, they couldn’t keep a pace on gen 8 and 9 despite the facts for them rushing their games development. The framerates for each game suffers poorly in my vision.

Honestly I think it’s fantastic. Reason being, is because the new system finally has a thin enough chipset, at a affordable enough cost, to where we will be getting very good looking games for a long time, thanks to dlss. Not sure if you know what dlss is, but it is a game-changing feature, that allows lower end Hardware to produce results extremely close to really high-end software, using AI texture overlays, and very little power.
Why this is a huge game changer, it simply because it’s a handheld that’s going to use way less power than what the previous version did, and be producing what looks like PS5 results. I think the system’s going to have a very long life just like this one, thanks to them waiting around for this function to be finally ready.
I’m curious if they’ll mention anything about upgrading games in the Direct. Seems like that would be better fitted for the April Direct though
Ports, Metroid prime 4 (also perhaps 2&3 remasters) 3rd party game promotions, and maybe some cross reveal games that are smaller but could benefit from the larger installments base of the switch
A Wind Waker HD port would be kinda funny.
Only if they fully remake it and tphd… The later actually needing that remake treatment…. Tphd came out the gate dated asf it was only a retextured pack of a game that be on 4 systems in a row with barely any visual change
Direct from February…which took place in March last year but some still believe it was postponed because of Microsoft, what will it be this time?

The announcement of the April 2nd Direct focusing on Switch 2 and the Switch 2 Experience events happening afterwards gives me the thought that the console will release between mid-July and late August, so one last wave of OG Switch games is expected. All we know of still to come from Nintendo itself is DKC Returns HD (which is more than likely available by the time of this comment), Xenoblade Chronicles X: DE, and Metroid Prime 4, so a few more games to pad out the calendar until Switch 2 is on shelves.
The questions are: how many games, and will people buy them or will they save up for Switch 2 and its games? I myself will likely make XCX: DE my final big OG Switch purchase and then wait for Switch 2 and 1 or 2 launch games.
Smart decision.
This is a good time for Nintendo to exhaust the last of the Switch pipeline to close the gap between PS2 sales.
