Dying Light franchise creators Techland have confirmed to IGN that the free improved visual update for the original Dying Light won’t be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The update improves numerous textures in the game to make it feel more up to date, but sadly this update won’t be deployed on the Nintendo Switch console. The company also said it has no plans to develop a Nintendo Switch 2 port of the excellent zombie adventure title, as they are concentrating their efforts on the upcoming Dying Light: The Beast.
Dying Light: Retouched update won’t be Nintendo Switch bound

I’d honestly just want Dying Light: The Beast on Switch 2 rather than just another update
Oh well, was kinda hoping it would be improved for switch 2, but to be honest I’m quite happy with how it is anyway and it already is a bit better on switch 2.
I’m really hoping they’ll bring dying light 2 to the switch 2 and maybe the beast
I really hope that the Switch 2 won’t get the Wii U treatment from the third party devs. I know it’s still early to tell, but so far there’s been at least a few instances of this.
I assure you, you are not the only one who has this impression… and the most worrying thing is that their calendar is practically empty next month except for Donkey Kong which is a first party, and we know nothing about what comes next! But some have ‘mentioned’ a ND this month and we are still waiting for it ^^.. anyway, they would be better off keeping quiet instead of pretending to know everything.
A first party next month is very big nowadays. What do we have first-party related for PS5 and Series S/X?
Plus let’s be real here. About the only reason one might want to play Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends Z-A on the original Switch is that they can’t afford the NS2 right now. Especially in Pokemon’s case, which looks VERY raw on the OG Switch (and there’ll be a Pokemon Presents next month). Also there are the “Switch 2 Edition” versions of both Zeldas, Jamboree (coming next month) and Kirby to fill the gaps.
As for first party titles, considering we have both Switches to consider, it’s a safe bet they’re focused on getting the cross gen ones out as soon as possible. Which is a good thing to do so they can completely focus on the new hardware starting next year. If nothing else, we already know that we’ll have a Splatoon game, a new Hyrule Warriors and Air Riders next year, which is already more than others are doing. Though I don’t think that’s going to be all for this year. I’d guess a Direct is coming, at earliest, after DK Bananza is released so we can have a better idea of what Nintendo has in store.
And, regarding third-party games, I’m not worried. There are Elden Ring, 007, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Tony Hawk, Sonic Racing to come and others I’m probably forgetting. Hades 2 will be a timed exclusive for the console release. Late Switch ports aren’t anything new (I bet whatever you want that Digimon will get a late Switch 2 port because Bandai is like that – maybe even Bleach and DBSZ – and Bethesda would be stupid to not release Doom: The Dark Ages on the more powerful NS2 when the less powerful OG got both 2016 and Eternal) so it’s a matter of wait and see.
On the substance, I agree with you, but the form indicates the opposite… since its release, publishers have had a free hand to announce their games, but apart from those already announced or cross-gen titles, there is nothing new! Just rumors… so far unfounded… where is the so-called ‘massive’ support from Microsoft and others announced by these so-called insiders?!Some will tell me they are waiting for a ND, but I find it absurd that they are waiting for that to announce anything… especially since if there is a ND, it will probably be in August because July is a vacation month in Japan…
That’s why you don’t trust “insiders”.
Insiders and leaks are the bane of modern gaming. People were so trigger-happy with leaks that Nintendo had to cobble a meh NS2 trailer because of it. And again, they leaked P4R so much that Atlus had to cobble a very early teaser. People just don’t accept that companies want to announce things in their own terms and are entitled to know everything.
Nintendo is very adamant at showing some big-name titles at their Directs in order to increase shock factor. Doom 2016 wouldn’t make such an impact if it was leaked beforehand. Plus, as I said, the starting line-up is already rock-solid so I don’t think they’re in a hurry considering how much fuel they have to burn this year. Also there’s the matter of the devkits to consider since Nintendo is prioritizing some developers.
In all honesty, I’d rather a Direct after either Metroid or Pokemon came out because I never liked the idea of spending a Direct talking about an already announced game. Directs should be for new announcements only. At least we’ll have DK Bananza and a Pokemon Presents in July so it won’t be an empty month (who knows, maybe they’ll announce something TCG/Unite-related for NS2 or even a new Pokken title – or a teaser from Gen 10). So don’t let “leaks” and “insiders” get to your head and relax.
Nintendo has become something of a “wait and see” for most developers.
Many had this exact attitude with the first Switch until they saw that it prints money. Then most started to bring ports and games (most because there were some that snubbed it and paid dearly for it – Activision’s CEO outright said they regretted not putting CoD on the Switch).
The Switch 2 already had a very strong start: Mario Kart World, the newest Street Fighter (that wasn’t released on OG), Cyberpunk 2077 (while it took a while for CDP to release TW3), Hitman, Raidou Kuzunoha, Sonic x Shadow, Yakuza, etc etc. Not to mention the improved Switch 1 games, of course.
Of course I don’t see every third party game coming to it, there will have some cases of developers snubbing it again. But I’m far more optimistic about support for Switch 2 than the original Switch. At the very least, I don’t think we’ll see abominations like that ARK Survival port, the WWE port and the MK1 port.
Wasn’t Nintendo pretty late with getting dev kits out? I remember when the news said they got dev kits to 3rd party developers and was like wow I thought that happened a while ago.
I strongly doubt that this is true… a manufacturer is not going to deliver a development kit just before the release of a console; it’s shooting themselves in the foot… If Nintendo really did it, it’s because they rushed to release the console…
