Ubisoft believes microtransactions in single-player games makes them “more fun”

Ubisoft is a firm believer in putting microtransaction into single player games and has been doing this for quite some time now. Now it appears that the company believes that their inclusion in single player games makes players experience more fun with their games. It’s not only profitable for the company to sell things like costumes or XP boosts in the Assassin’s Creed franchise etc, but the firm has stated in a report that that their “monetization offer within premium games makes the player experience more fun by allowing them to personalize their avatars or progress more quickly.” However they do note that these microtransactions are optional.

  1. Yes microtransactions are optional. Yes they do theoretically let you customize your playing experience. But being shoved into every game is exactly the reason why Ubisoft is failing. Costumes locked behind money for example is one less thing they could’ve given you as a collectible or form of progression within the base game itself.

    1. Its like customizing your own race track and characters abilities. Some developers behind Paladins or Genshin Impact do the same thing for those titles as well. Ubisoft, is falling behind on making their other games more fun with microtransactions.

  2. It’s OK in a free game and if it’s still a micro and not a macro transaction (Fortnite, mobile games …), not a full paid game …

  3. Ubishit… I never knew just how accurate that nickname would be. This is the kind of bullshit people should fight against, not Ninty pricing their power hybrid system how they see fit.

    1. Stronger than an Xbox Series S, and priced cheaper than the more powerful competition isn’t something any intelligent gamer would complain about, but the casual hobbyists would. It also came with a $50 pack in title, haven’t seen one of those in a long time.

Just remember, only casuals complain about a good deal, and most Nintendo haters are just casuals who can’t even call themselves gamers.

  4. It’s true….. When you’re playing a game you have to unlock simple features with real money….the CEOs have lots of fun

  5. They also wrote a racist story for AC Shadows and hired a child predator as their Japanese consultant who included child grooming/molestation in the game, among other terrible things like cultural insensitivity and bastardizing Japanese heritage, delaying the game several times to let the controversy die down instead of cancelling the game as a show of good faith, and giving a weak apology. Ubisoft is a developer that needs to be shut down permanently.
