Once Silksong DLC is done Team Cherry considering whether to tackle new franchise

Team Cherry co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen recently took part in an extensive interview with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, during which they stated that they are currently beavering away on downloadable content for Hollow Knight: Silksong. However it should be stated that the co-founders wouldn’t be drawn on committing to a release window for the DLC. Asked what’s next for Team Cherry once they’ve finished the DLC, they said that they might want to tackle a new franchise or a slightly different video game genre, but at present they are focussed on delivering Silksong-themed downloadable content.

When you say you have other games you plan to make, are you thinking more stuff within this same universe? Or do you want to go somewhere else entirely?

Gibson: We have said we’ll go elsewhere as well. Although we’ve also said those experiences will still be about exploring big worlds full of weird characters and giant bosses and whatnot. So there would be a through line there that people will be familiar with. That’s not to say we won’t return to these Hollow Knight worlds. We do have ideas around what forms those would take. But we also don’t want to be exclusively people that make Hollow Knight.

Are you sick of it?

Gibson: No, not at all. If we were forced to make another Hollow Knight right now it’d be a joy. It’s just that it’d be interesting for us to explore the same things we’re interested in but maybe in a slightly different genre, slightly different theme, and how that affects the stories we come up with. We’re interested to see what would happen ourselves.

  1. I find it funny they’re making DLC to what was originally DLC after it released and fell off hard with fans. The game sucks, it’s nowhere near as good as HK, and we all want you to stop anything you’re doing for Silksong and make something different.

    1. Its not bad at all. Stop crying cause you have a skill issue, millions of players want a dlc. They wouldn’t change their mind just cause one person didn’t like it. Game did not fall of at all, it succeeded in sales more than the first HK. Why would they make another game before making dlcs? Dlcs are what made the first HK even better so of course there will ne Dlcs for silksong. Honestly get better at the game
