Baldur’s Gate III received plenty of critical acclaim when it launched in 2023 and many have been hoping that the content-packed game will eventually come to the Nintendo Switch 2. Sadly, news has emerged from a recent Reddit Ask me Anything thread from Larian CEO Swen Vincke who has stated that the game isn’t coming to Nintendo’s latest platform.

There’s NO way switch 2 can’t handle it that’s so disappointing I’ve been asking for a port on a Nintendo console before the switch 2 was even announced and it would have been AMAZING with touch support, I’m legit kinda sad :(
Most developers need a publisher, games don’t just get made and then someone clicks a button on their PC and viola it’s released. The publisher told them no.
They publish their own games though. 🤷

Larian is not in charge of publishing the game. Hasbro, more specifically Wizards of the Coast is. The developers would’ve loved to launched it on Switch 2, but Hasbro likely didn’t see it being worth their time and money. Capitalism at its finest

Yup this right here. Heard about it what a year or 2 ago. Funny Hasbro has the Snake Eyes game in development still no trailer been over 6 years now and they are making a game with Saber possibly Transformers after the last game was cancelled.

One of the good things to come out of last year though was enough pressure for Larian to announce they will no longer use generative AI in any content creation process moving forward. That’s something we can all hang out hat on proudly.

Not into that style of game myself but the audience of sex freaks is a huge red flag add on the bear scene or option….heard some romance options are just forced on you because also. BioWare made the first 2 Baldurs Gates games were those different? Before my time.
And to be clear, this game runs on the Steam Deck. Anything that can run on that is certainly capable of running on Switch 2, so power isn’t the problem.
