Sonic x Godzilla announced and coming this summer

Sonic the Hedgehog is set to meet his biggest threat and it’s none other than the monstrous and throughly awesome, Godzilla. Yes, the Sonic x Godzilla comics have been announced and it sees Godzilla being dragged into Sonic’s colourful world. IGN reports that Sonic x Godzilla is written by Nick Marino who was behind Godzilla Rivals and illustrated by Jack Lawrence who has worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and colours by Reggie Graham.

“IDW is constantly brainstorming new potential crossovers, and we’ve always been especially excited about the possibility of bringing these two iconic licenses together. This crossover in particular is also one that fans have been asking us for loud and clear for years, so it’s been high up on the list to try to make happen. Who wouldn’t want to see the Blue Blur vs the King of the Monsters, after all? So this idea has actually been on the IDW team’s radar for a very long time, but it wasn’t until the last year or so that all the pieces fell into place and we could get to work on it! We’re lucky to have such a great creative team to bring this story to life, and of course, this crossover would not have been possible without a tremendous amount of support from Sega and Toho!”

What it is interesting is that the beloved Sonic Adventure games which both started life on the SEGA Dreamcast were a huge inspiration for Sonic x Godzilla. The game’s iconic Station Square will be the backdrop for some of the action that’s sure to take place in Sonic x Godzilla.

Sonic Adventure became a huge inspiration on this project somewhere in the second-ish year of development (it’s been a long ride!),” Marino says. “When you’re dealing with giant monsters, you have to think on a bigger scale, and Station Square provided an incredible canvas for us to splatter with destruction and mayhem. My collaborators, Jack Lawrence and Reggie Graham, have risen to the challenge, depicting that special city with jaw-dropping detail.

  1. I’ve never read any of these crossovers where Godzilla goes up against good guys, but I surmise they probably all eventually lead to Godzilla turning good (if it isn’t good from the start) because some canons and crossovers have made Godzilla unstoppable.

  2. just put sonic in kingdom hearts at this point lol
while your at it, do Sonic X Bob the Builder or shit, Sonic X Banjo Kazooie. Maybe banjo can get a new story through sonic of all people

    1. At least Sonic and Sora are in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. If you still want another Sonic X Kingdom Hearts crossover, more power to you.

  3. Isn’t Godzilla like not allowed to lose in crossovers? If that’s the case Sonic is in trouble. Also find my pages

They are going to do what most crossover’s do. Make them fight but make it ebd before you can see who wins, make a greater threat emerge, have the characters team up. It’s been done hundreds of times.

    1. I say this as one of the biggest Sonic fans on this god forsaken website but Sonic is not winning. It all comes down to two things 1. Which version of Sonic and Godzilla are we using and 2. Would Sonic have access to the Chaos emeralds? Some Sonics aren’t doing jackshit while others can probably hurt him. But he would need to be Super Sonic to do any lasting damage and even then I heard Godzilla isn’t allowed to lose crossover fights (I could be wrong but that’s what I heard) so if we apply that logic, Sonic at best would be prolonging the inevitable. Oh and find my pages

      1. If Sonic was pitted against Shin Godzilla, unless he kills him quickly, I don’t see a happy ending for Sonic & friends. Or their entire universe for that matter if he got ahold of the Chaos Emeralds.
