Ubisoft looks to be firing on all cylinders with Rayman Legends Retold which was fully unveiled last night during the State of Play event and is scheduled to release 1st October. One of the questions that has recently been put to Ubisoft is why not remake the original Rayman game which first made its debut in 1995. Rayman Legends Retold producer says that the company has tried rebooting the original Rayman game to bring it up to date but that it’s been a near impossible mission. Quite why that is remains a mystery. Here’s what Rayman Legends Retold brand producer Loic Gounon had to say:
“I think it’s been tried,” Gounon explains. He adds, “I think it’s a game that’s really difficult to remake, and I think, in a way, the answer to remaking Rayman 1 is Rayman Origins, and we went through those arguments internally.”
“Rayman Origins is sort of a reboot of Rayman 1. There are some of the characters, some of the places.” In original Rayman, he says, it’s “super slow” and “very old school game design,” but “if you start changing that, the metrics, the sense of speed, it’s another game. It’s Origins”
“I would call it near a mission impossible to remake Rayman 1, honestly. That’s why, when we decided to celebrate the 30th anniversary, we felt that keeping Rayman 1 as intact as it was, going for a bit more of a documentary approach, how the franchise was born, was a better angle.”

Rayman 1 and Origins are completely different games with completely different stories and Characters, Even Rayman as a Character is different. I love the first Rayman game, Ubisoft saying it’s impossible is bs, fans have been doing things with Rayman 1 for decades. I’d give anything for Rayman 1 to come back properly. Sadly even the rerelease was destroyed with the music and don’t say that doesn’t matter because it does. Original Rayman was a also a Pure of Heart Chill Guy.

I rather have the original 2D version of rayman 2.
So just don’t support Ubishit trust me I learned that from day 1. They will never improve the people that made games all left.
….. it’s ironic they made that statement when someone already made a fan remake of it years ago that improves the original in every possible way and it’s completely free…
