Europe: Nintendo confirms future Switch 2 model compliant with EU battery regulations

Nintendo has confirmed that future Nintendo Switch 2 models will be slightly different as they will feature replaceable batteries to align with EU battery regulations. The model with the replaceable battery will will be available by February 2027, when new EU rules go into effect. Nintendo has stated on its website that not will be “implementing measures to comply with these requirements by preparing versions of products to meet the Regulation.” It’s unlikely that anything else about the system will change.

  1. I’m kinda interested and curious to see what it looks like. I wonder if it’ll just be an easier to remove backplate or if it’ll have those screw covers stickers. Hopefully not, those are crazy annoying to remove during repairs especially on older consoles
