Famitsu: Masahiro Sakurai comes first in Favourite Game Creator category

Acclaimed video game developer Masahiro Sakurai is busy celebrating today as it has been revealed that he scooped the award for Favourite Video Game Creator in a large-scale survey for the 40th anniversary of beloved Japanese game magazine, Famitsu. Mr. Sakurai said “It is an honor beyond my worth! I am deeply grateful.” That’s not all as the iconic Kirby was placed 4th in the Favourite Game Character category, to which Mr. Sakurai said “Thank you for your continued support!.”

  1. I will never not appreciate what Sakurai was able to accomplish with Smash Ultimate. He curated a roster of characters that people could only dream over so many years ago. All the licensing and contracts he had to arrange to get some characters into the game must have been so overwhelming but it was worth it. His efforts go beyond even Smash, helping get Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy back on Nintendo consoles, making King K. Rool relevant again, jump starting Fire Emblem’s appearance in the West, he just has so much foresight, knowledge, and understanding to be able to achieve these feats
