EA seems to have killed off the Need for Speed franchise

Need for Speed is a well known and successful video game franchise from EA and sadly it appears that the series is now unfortunately dead. Criterion, who have been the stalwarts of the long-running series, have now been moved onto other duties at EA and are now a Battlefield support team.

“When asked whether the studio’s 30th anniversary might present an opportunity to celebrate with a new Need for Speed project, Coutaz flatly replied: “We are not here to talk about the past; we are solely focused on Battlefield.” Her comments effectively confirm that Criterion will now devote its full attention to EA’s flagship first-person shooter series.”

  1. Once a great series had turned into mediocre games. Maybe it’s for the best, but the last few entries felt more like cash grabs to appeal nostalgic fans than actual good games.

  2. We need to put all of the good EA franchises into foster care so that actual studios can work on them. I am looking at you plants vs zombies! EA is a horrible parent.

    1. I think another studio can handle or take care of the franchise so they can buy out the entire franchise by adopting it. Make sense don’t you think? Besides I seen another studio done it before for another franchise and it turn out great.

  3. Gaming is a husk compared to what it used to be, too many games that are practically the same things or rehashes.. the industry is long due an overhaul.
