Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo Reconfirms Free The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords For 3DS/DSi In September

Nintendo has reconfirmed that gamers will be able to get their hands on The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords absolutely free this September to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series. The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords will be available for free download via Nintendo DSiWare or via the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Hopefully they will announce a specific date soon. Who’s looking forward to downloading this?

  1. I’d actually totally forgotten about this. Good to hear they’re sticking to their word. I never got to play the old Four Swords game because it forced multiplayer unlike it’s sequel Four Swords Adventures, which again I never played multiplayer…. I have no friends…. or life…. :-(

  2. I have and have beaten Four Swords Adventures for the Gamecube and while I have the FS/LTTP GBA bundle game, I could never play FS because I didn’t have any friends with the game. But I’ve always wondered: is the GBA FS game the exact same game as the Gamecube FSA?

    1. No, in my opinion the gamecube version is sooo much better but I’m not complaining. Free four swords, multiplayer and no cords this time

    2. It’s a different game with different story and all that, if I’m not gravely mistaken. Kind of the lost chapter of Zelda, since so few ever got to play it. I’m just hoping The Minish Cap will be available on Eshop somewhere in the future as well.

  3. The only Zelda I’ve never played. I have it, but never knew anyone I could play it with. So I’m really looking forward to this!

BTW: Anyone know how it will be played? Like, can it be played alone this time or will it have have online-multiplayer or LAN capabilities? I’m guessing online, but I gotta ask.

  4. Unless it’s got Online Co-OP I’ll be meh. The problem last time was not having anyone nearby to play it.

  5. I hope it has single player or wi-fi multiplayer. But I’ll download it anyways because eventually I’m bound to find a friend with a 3DS or DSi.

  6. This just might be the reason I need to buy a 3DS. I can remember playing the GBA Four Swords with my swim friends at swim meets between races…brings back so many memories :) I hope it has online though, that’d be great! :D

  7. It won’t be online. But it will be wireless (no cable links!). I don’t think that this game is very appropriate for online play. It’s one of those games that should be played with others in the same room. Strangers would probably just mess you up for kicks anyway.

    1. That could add a sense of mistery to the game Haha not knowing if the people you are going to play will make things right or just fuck up the game xD I mean in every online game theres that risk.
But yeah I agree with you , It wont be online.

    1. It will PROBABLY (unconfirmed information) be only available in September, or for a few months. Just for the 25th Anniversary. I can’t see them keeping it free forever. The fact that it’s free in the first place though is just another reason over the last few months why Nintendo has proved to me and many others why they are a company 100% about the customer.

      1. Cheers for the info.
And yeah I’m usually happy with Nintendo.
Although I probably wouldn;t play this anyway. Probably get as much use as my GBA version

  9. It better have online multiplayer so I can actually play with my friends again. Everyone moved to different places after high school, so I’ll have no one to play it with unless it has online co-op for folks in your friends list. :(

  10. I am downloading this even if I don’t have anyone to play with locally! :D

I did play this on GBA with my friend, man, good times.

  11. I hope this won’t be a Dsiware game because i hate playing those on my 3ds. It is just annoying to play with 2 black ends cut off of each side
