Nintendo America has just issued a press release stating that Nintendo 3DS sales are up 260 percent following the recent price reduction for the console. Nintendo sold more than 235,000 Nintendo 3DS systems in the United States in August, and the console finished as the Number 2 best-selling game system for the month, according to the NPD Group.
“Consumers are responding very positively to the new suggested retail price of $169.99 for the Nintendo 3DS,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “With Star Fox 64 3D and the new Flame Red color launching tomorrow, and Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 arriving later this year, Nintendo 3DS will offer consumers cutting-edge entertainment and tremendous value this holiday season.”
And with the holidays coming, things can only go up!

Well, that’s great to hear. Although I kinda expected it honestly. I think the 3DS will do well especially in the upcoming months.

Except one analyst is convince the PS Vita will fail faster and harder then the 3DS.

I am SO looking forward to Mario Kart 7. Mario Kart keeps getting better and better with every game, and damnit I want Koopa Troopa Beach from Mario Kart 64 as a retro track! Or even just the whole game ported to the DS or 3DS or 3DS Virtual Console so I can take it on the road.

IMO Mario kart wii wasn’t as good as double dash but it was still enjoyable
Agreed. I feel like Mario Kart Wii was geared towards the more casual crowd. Double Dash and even Mario Kart 64 play a LOT faster. My biggest complaint was just that I never felt like I was really going Fast like in double dash… Loved the bikes though 8)
There you go Nintendo! I hope to purchase a 3ds myself this holiday season. Not to mention Skyward Sword… and Xenoblade if im lucky enough to see it in the states.
