Nintendo’s junior product manager Roger Langford has told MCV about Nintendo’s plans to market the fantastic Super Mario 3D Land. Initially advertising will be focused on gaming sites but as the company moves closer to launch you’ll be bombarded with Super Mario 3D Land adverts on your television, including a separate dedicated kids TV campaign.
“Pre-launch we will be focusing on pre-orders with an online campaign running across gaming sites. As we move closer to launch, we will also have online activity across all major kids sites, showing all the new elements that Super Mario 3D Land has to offer.
“For release we will have a large presence on TV with activity across all channels including a separate dedicated kids TV campaign.
“All of this activity will ensure that fans of Mario will be aware of his latest adventure, and with Mario Kart 7 also on the horizon, it’s an exciting time for Nintendo 3DS.”

good move for the tv add.
Nintendo TV ads always make the games look rubbish, even when they’re awesome. Waste of money I think.
I enjoyed both Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Ocarina of Time 3D tv spots
Hmmm… I feel that people hardly watch TV’s anymore :/ The outcome might not become as good as they anticipated… Most are on the web now… Oh well, Hope for the best for Nintendo!
Oh a lot of people watch a lot of tv. Namely kids.
I feel they will spend alot of money that could be put else where to generate greater amounts of revenue. Advertising is only so effective, its very powerful, no arguement there, but, could they split that money and put it towards another project or product which would, in the long run, generate more funds then this advertising?
They didn’t advertise the system itself a lot, look where that got them. Some people don’t even know that the 3ds isn’t another ds, and those commercial will probably fix that, just saying “only on Nintendo 3ds” will probably be enough.Plus the 3ds needs a hit title that people know about, what better way to inform them about that title?
Good point! This could be the recovery effort! And pretty much the last big one chance left for the 3DS.
I wouldn’t say the last big chance though, I mean, in my oppinion, the 3DS will be around for a long time, I plan to buy all the major games when they come out, and I’m certain all major fans will too, and surely that’s the important thing.
Yay! it seems interesting.

Great now there going to make me feel bad for not buying it on launch
*Looks at you’re avatar*
*tee-hee-hee*
lol XD
He just beat the record for the most penis-resembling avatar on this site! xD
Best wishes for the 3DS.
I feel bad for waiting for a revision :(
dont feel bad about that, it is your money, what you should feel bad about is waiting to play these instant classics lol
Good move, I feel videogames advertise too little now a days. Plus I just love gaming adds.
i bought my 3DS in anticipation for mario kart 7, suoer mario 3D land, tales of the abyss, and resident evil: revelations.
i work in advertising and that’s a really good idea to advertise the upcoming Mario game on the 3DS through TV …
A game like this deserves a good advertising campain. Also, dont forget to tell parents about your wonderful new 2D NON-EYE-HURTING DISPLAY!!
Am I the only one that doesn’t think this news is all that great. Like I wanna hear about a new project or something. Jus my opinion
(sorry for posting this twice but no reason to write it all over again :D)
I understand that but we all already know that advertising would be great for the 3DS. It’s just that this is like the 3rd article about an ad campaign. Today hasn’t been a good one so its probably jus me
It would be nice
Why is this being marketed to kids? It’s insulting. Also, the last good Nintendo ad I remember seeing is for Metroid: Other M, where they used real actors for live action, in slow motion. Nintendo needs to start thinking outside of the box for ads. Something creative, unique. Then again, “kids” wouldn’t care about that. And then again, this is NOA I’m talking about.
Though the Kirby Mass Attack one with the evil tree was epic!
Why wouldn’t they market it to kids? Kid watches cartoon network sees Mario commercial and starts begging mommy and daddy for the 3ds and Mario for Christmas…marketing to kids is very important
Interesting. I wonder if they’ll use this to advertise the 3DS. The Wii sold so many units because they advertised the hell out of that system in the holidays; you could not get away from it. The 3DS needs this. As soon as they show people the Tanooki suit, they will be all over this.
This is so awesome…i can’t wait for this game D: …long life to the 3DS
I found the American star fox 64 3d trailer somewhat amusing
Why can’t Skyward Sword also have a massive TV Campaign?
I reckon it will.
It’d be foolish to not have a massive marketing campaign for Zelda. it’s one of those classic games that have rarely disappointed (and said disappointment only due to very high standards expected, not due to bad games)…
Hmm, i’m curious what game did disappoint and how?
