This weeks Media Create Sales are in and once again the Nintendo 3DS is clearly out-performing all the competition selling an impressive 80,960 units. The Nintendo 3DS’ closest competitor is the PlayStation 3 which only managed to sell 21,155 units. Mario Kart continues to be the best-selling Nintendo 3DS game in Japan taking the number one position. Thirteen of the overall top twenty games in Japan are on Nintendo platforms.

Poor Vita, seems it will pick up later on… This is great for Nintendo, and Resident Evil, Metal Gear, and Kid Icarus are just around the corner.

I want a vita heck i’d be willing to pay 200 pounds for one
but there is no way in hell im going to pay that ammount of money then have to spend another 80 odd pounds just for a memory card
if sony think im willing to part with that much money then they are deluded

Vita seling less than PSP – but let be fair the DS was outselling the 3ds for quite a while aswell. Vita will be in for another price drop soon me thinks

Yeah, but remember that the psp pretty much failed in software sales in the US. Japan has the highest consumer base percentage for handheld gaming.

the vita is doing just dismally. when was the last time that device even saw 50k units move in a week’s time? sony has to be putting in all their hopes that the vita will show up and blow up in the west. by the time it launches worldwide, japan may have entirely stopped buying them. just based off sales numbers, i predict next week will be closer to 10k, if not slightly lower
These sales on 3DS did sell well.
but as for Vita, damn, it was beaten by PSP sales. :/ Hopefully it’ll sell, but sadly, the money I saved goes for Kid icarus Uprising, Resident Evil Revelations, etc. and believe me, I’ve been wanting these games for a long time. D:

this is poetic justice, ladies and gentlemen. back when the 3DS was having kind of a rough start, sony fanboys were declaring doom upon the nintendo handheld….or nintendo in general for some reason. now, the vita is having an even worse start than the 3DS and not even being able to match the number of 3DS systems sold during the week of the japanese tsunami…..or even half of that number since the second week! the vita is flopping like a professional soccer player and the fanboys who declared doom on the 3DS are either staying away, making bad excuses in the vita’s defense, or being forced to eat crow (figuratively, of course). by the way, not nearly enough gaming journalism sites are declaring doom on the vita the way they were for the 3DS….but i’ll wait until well after the worldwide launch to make a full complaint on that one.
Nintendo has been beating technologically advanced portables for about 23 years now, the PSPvita wouldnt be the exception.
