Nintendo Announces Global Wii U Launch Due This Year

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has confirmed that the company will roll out the Wii U across the US, Europe, Australia and Japan before the end of the year. Nintendo wouldn’t say exactly when we can expect the Wii U, but we know it will be available sometime after this years E3 event in June.

          1. I’m European, but I would not mind Australia getting it first since you guys always get screwed over (prices, release dates, etc…)

        1. Yes >:D The hope is the last thing that leaves the human… But I would be ok with you being first :) As long as Wii U is released this year ^^

        1. I doubt it’s NoE’s decision, I think when it comes to a console launch, the decision of where it launches first belongs to Nintendo of Japan.

        2. Definatly Europe before america

the Wii sold better here and all the americans seem to care about is the xbox
bring the Wii U to Europe first and the games
cause we dont bitch about the difficulty and let everyone else get crappy dubbed down versions :P

          1. Your wrong
Wii has a largest install base in all region. I have proof that Wii is more popular than 360. Just Dance 3 sold 7.1 million on Wii but Kinect is sold 1.4million. 360 Install base is still behind about 6million.
            Just Dance 3 Wii = 7.1million and Kinect= 1.4 shows it.

Although over here only does care about 360. Most people in my school plays 360.

    1. How about All REGION AT THE SAME TIME!!
Think about when it launch and New Super Mario Bros Mii is a actual game and launch game. Wii U will SELL HOTCAKES!! It will sell 5 million first day.

    2. I hope it doesn’t lunch in NA at all…
WTF are you talking about… instead of asking for a global lunch on the same day, you act like a small child. “I want first, I want first!!!!”.

      1. What is your problem? I would be all for a global launch, what i would hate is it launching somewhere else and then having to wait about a month for the NA release.

    3. C’mon USA!!!!! will there be a game with it? Like maybe a new Mario or Wii Sports Resort?(which I LOVE).

If all this power they are putting in the wii U is just for FPS games i’m gonna be ticked off.

        1. :) having a small penis is nothing to be ashamed about, and its only a failed penis if you believe… that its a failed penis.

          :) so chin up.

      1. The Only Pokemon Champion

yes but the gamecube and wii was released in america first
when it comes to home consoles, NoA is always first :)

  1. I’d be so happy if they’d make a “and guess what – you’ll be able to get all this NEXT MONTH!”-like launch announcment. Can’t wait much longer!!

    1. it was only confirmed that the japan release would be released this year, but now we know it’s an international release :3.

  2. I’m not getting one, I love Nintendo but this console looks stupid as hell. Personally I think it’ll be a major commercial failure. Sorry Nintendo but you know it’s true, no matter how well you try to sell this ship it’s gonna sink.

    1. Your going to be that guy looking for one all 2013, and the console WON’T look like this, the controller WON’T look like this. Everything we saw last e3 was just a rough idea, even the zelda zelda demo lack AA. The system will get 3rd party games, its even rumored that the reason grand theft auto V got pushed to 2013 was because they went ahead and started a WII U version. I mean of ALL nintendo consoles to doubt, you choose the ONE with the most potential.

  3. i hope the states gets it last, that way all other regions can beta test them and Nintendo works outs the kinks and bugs before it releases here.

  4. I don’t care if Japan, Europe, or North America releases the U first, The U Bomb will make an incredibly huge impact around the world!!!!!!

  6. Etecoons and Dachoras

More importantly than a global Wii U launch is perhaps when it’s launching, which is during the year-end holiday shopping season.

I’m not sure why people always assumed or thought that Wii U would launch in June or July. Nintendo’s last couple consoles launched in November, and it’s worked for them. I see another November launch for the Wii U as well, right before the busy and lucrative Black Friday.

My guess would be November 18th launch date for Wii U in the U.S.

  7. I think Japan will be first because Nintendo is a Japanese gaming company but I want to know what the price for one is
