Crystal Dynamics forthcoming Tomb Raider reboot which is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC won’t be coming to Wii U because the development team do not wish to create a bog-standard port of the game. Crystal Dynamics explained that development of Tomb Raider began long before the announcement of the Wii U at last years E3 event.
“When we started developing the game we made a conscious decision that it was all about building the game for a platform and making sure the game was specific to that platform”.
“Given that we’ve been working on the game quite a while before Wii U was announced I think it would not be right to try and port it across. If we started building a game for the Wii U we would build it very differently and we would build it with unique functionality.”

I agree kilk man. This site is pure biased. Ign announced that Nintendo stocks keep crashing and that they are expecting to lose more money than last year. If any Stock holder that has shares with nintendo id advise you to leave because Nintendo is about to go bankrupt. When a company posts “losses” it means that they will make less profits than projected. Nintendo is STILL making money; they just won’t make the amount they want. Nintendo said that the Wii U didnt have multi-touch because of durability issues. I believe this is the same thing with the 3DS. I fix DS’s for a hobby and I haven’t seen any broken touch screens yet, compared to iPods or iPhones where they break really easily.

1) You probably mean that the Xbox 720 will be 6 times more powerfull than the Xbox 360, please do not compare that with the rumor that the Wii U will be 2 times more powerfull than the X360, since that is not correct. There are even rumors that the Wii U will be more powerfull than the Xbox 720.
2) I am by no means sure that the Wii U will be more powerfull, that’s not what I’m saying. What I do try to say by that is that the difference probably will not be very big AT ALL. 20% will not make one console have MUCH nicer graphics than the other.
3) Android tablet?! What?!!! First everybody was bitching on the Wii BECAUSE of the tablet controller, but now Xbox MIGHT do it, it’s cool?!
Also people were complaining that with the (of course very gimmicky, it is Nintendo so yeah…) controller would become too expensive controller, but it would be no problem if Xbox had one? If you look at the posted 720’s GPU, it’s actually weaker than the Wii-U’s GPU. Ntm, the Wii-U is using a processor based off the one that powers the Watson super-computer so I doubt the Wii-U would be too much, if any at all, weaker in terms of power. Besides, the Wii-U is offering plenty such as better online, usage of previous controllers, tablet, discs with the same space as Blu-Ray, a better online store, etc.
WiiU and Xb720 FTW sony should make more tv’s and skip the media console type stuff its rly akward.

although the controller idea for me holds great potential and im willing to bet that sony and Microsoft will all come up with thier own Wii U style controllers in the next Gen systems

This just shows that there still are some developers who aren’t in JUST for the money. They don’t want to port it because they know it wouldn’t as good as they want it to be. So they aren’t.

Eh, good and bad here. Tomb Raider is a decent enough series that I’d like to see a game on the Wii U, but I completely understand and respect the desire to not have a crappy port. It’s nice that they respect Nintendo and the Wii U enough (and understand basic marketing/customer satisfaction standards) to want to build a game from the ground-up to fully take advantage of the system’s capabilities.

I’m going to go against general consensus and say that this sounds a bit lazy of them. Not every port of a “decent” (emphasis mine) game needs to do amazing things with the new controller to be deemed worthwhile. Then again are you telling me that Crystal Dynamics couldn’t have thought of SOME basic way to port a, supposedly, decent game to the Wii U and make it worthwhile? No controller inventory, map, or even just the basic playing the game just using the controller screen if you want to?
I just don’t want “we didn’t want to port it because we couldn’t think of a decent use for the controller” to become the new excuse for not developing/porting multi-platform games for the Wii U when every other box is pretty much ticked.
If not being able to find a use for the unique controller is the WORST problem a developer has bringing their games to Wii U then hell give us all the “lazy” ports you want.
