GameStop stores across North America are no longer accepting Wii U pre-orders for any of the two models, as they are completely sold out, and the retailer’s president, Tony Bartel, says demand for Nintendo’s forthcoming console is overwhelming. GameStop PowerUp members can join The Wii U Wait List, which notifies them of when Wii U pre-orders will become available.
“Demand for Wii U has been off the charts. Customers will be notified when a Wii U is available for purchase and will have 48 hours to respond. There is no deposit required to join the wait list and enrolling does not guarantee a Wii U on or by a specified date or at a specific price.”

Yeah, I guess when the deluxe sold out at GameStop in a few days a lot more people shopped around to try and get one rather than settle for the basic.

I agree, I do own an android, I haven’t seen any major improvements on iphones, just better screens, higher resolution cameras, and.. yeah. (The processor is a must for every update on anything) I still don’t like iphones.

I can start to see the appeal of digital games, now though. When I tried to play Brawl a month ago, it wouldn’t work. Now, the bigger games won’t work on my Wii at all. I tried a disc cleaning kit, but all it did was allow my Wii to read the disc for a couple of seconds.
So basically, Wii-wise, I can only play WiiWare and Virtual Console games.

It would be a waste to have that kind of advertising now. Gamers, either casual or hardcore, already know about the Wii U and would order it.
Non-gamers, like my aunt, won’t order the system even if they knew about it until Christmas time or so. They would never have any intention of preordering it, even if they knew what preordering was.
Let the gamers get the console first in November. Then, mass advertise to everybody else during the major shopping seasons.
I expect huge advertising and marketing campaigns at the end of october and the begining of November all the way through to next year , gradualy slowing down .
Like you say , whether or not it’s appopriate is questionable , but Nintendo have so much momentum and investmant , they will probably manage to persuade 2 pac and jimi hendrix to do the adverts for them ! .
Oh, and on a more serious note. Got my ZombiU Bundle pre-ordered, three extra games on top of that and come launch I’ll be a very happy gamer :-)

I preordered the Deluxe Bundle, which comes with Nintendo Land. My household overall also preordered New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Assassin’s Creed III, and Skylanders Giants. In the future, I plan on getting Bayonetta 2, ZombiU and Black Ops II. I just need to save up on money for now.
The zombiu bundle is for europe LOL !!!! well at least I know its in the UK rangeing from £320 to £350 . I don’t think its available in the US. We have threee bundles available to us in UK and I think that’s for Europe aswell .

I actually went with buying NintendoLand with my console. I want to play with my family and friends. Plus, Nintendos first party software is cheaper than third party and the Pro Controller is more expensive when buying it as a stand-alone accessory, so the ZombiU Bundle was perfect for me. Picked up Mario and Rayman as well. Might pick up Black Ops 2 as well.
I’m also look forward to playing Bayonetta 2. Didn’t play the first one when it released but my brother and my best friend bought it for my birthday the other day. Really loving it so far.
Darksiders 2 will hopefully be as brilliant as the first one.
Lego City Undercover is a must buy for me as well. Looks awesome and hilarious.
I’ve also picked up Scribblenauts for the DS and I’m loving that as well, so Scribblenauts Unlimited is a no-brainer.
There are a few more I want but I’ll probably pick up most of them along the way. Out of the 52 launch window titles there are about 17 I want to buy :-). It took me a long time to reach that many wanted titles for my 360, and that was about a year after release.

Pre-ordering is a very simple process… this system has been a long time coming and my Gamestop was only asking for 25 dollars down. I deserved what I got when I didn’t pre-order a Wii all those years ago and spent a lot of time and gasoline driving about town to find one. And I did. 6 months later. The real tragedy, the thing I really really don’t look forward to are the extortionists on eBay. Just wait. It’s gonna get nasty.
Since Amazon wasn’t supporting preorders of this console, I had to spend 400 bucks in Best Buy gift cards to order the bundle. I did it the day before they sold out, and spent all of my Amazon credit preordering accessories and games.

wow this is great news. the deluxe bundles sold out at most places in no time flat, and now even the basic sets are starting to sell out…. and it doesn’t even launch for another 2 months! the Wii U’s launch is gonna be a great one. this holiday’s going to be all about nintendo, and i’m going to be enjoying it with my deluxe bundle!
Let’s just hope Nintendo can makes these fast enough so that it would sell well during the holiday season too instead of just during launch.

I know nintendo world will have plently of Wii U’s, with the Wii launch they still had plently for the whole first week of launch(and this is NYC were talking about!).
Getting wii u at gamestop near me though that i preordered since its 5-10min away, hope they have midnight launch, i would like to go to nintendo world(but 2 hour drive from me) and maybe will preorder one there too soon for safety.

I pre-ordered the Wii U Deluxe, this is the first time buying console at launch since Sega Genesis, even though the Wii had few games this last two years, Skyward Sword was one of my favorites. I had so much fun with Wii. I think there is a lot of love out there for Wii, so that will carry over to Wii. And if Nintendo makes some really good Donkey Kong and Metroid games and brings all the 3rd party AAA games, this will be very successful system for a long time.
I went to Gamestation and HMV to ask if they’re doing preorders and they don’t even know what price the Wii U will be… :S

Everyone’s thinking “OMG, this is so awesome, its doooing reeely well lol” but, honestly, this is a bad thing. I mean, it’s good that it’s selling but stock shortages may be even worse than those with the Wii. I preordered my Wii. They finally had enough stock to send to me in March 2007. Genuinely worried, I’m a bit hard up this month so haven’t preordered. Will I be able to play any time this year?

This is no surprise. And I anticipated that the basic unit would sell out too. I have the basic pack on preorder and will pay it off completely over the next two months. I may even keep it sealed to wait what the prices hit on eBay to double my money, and buy a high end gaming laptop.
