Japanese publication 4Gamer questioned 151 Japanese developers to find out what their favourite games of 2013 were. Interestingly western games such as The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto V took the top spots, while acclaimed Nintendo first party games released on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U were virtually shunned by the developers. Fire Emblem Awakening and Super Mario 3D World both deserved spots on here. But yeah, I can’t get over the fact that Candy Crush, of all things, made it on.
Fire Emblem Awakening was released in 2012 in Japan. Even then, it’s a niche series. I guess it’s only natural that AAA titles are the ones that get more publicity in Japan as well.
Beyond two souls is better than Zelda, 3D world, Pikmin 3, Pokemon X and Y, Luigi’s Mansion 2 etc etc ????

I think the title is wrong.. it must be “151 sony japanese developers name best games of 2013” :P
I think my 2013 game this year was between the following:
1) Super Mario 3D World
2) The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker HD
3) Darksiders 2
3) New Super Mario Bros U and New Super Luigi U
4) Pikmin 3
5) Need for Speed Most Wanted U
6) Splinter Cell Blacklist.
Now I know a few of those game out last year, but I only got them some point this year, and I’ve enjoyed them all. Cannot wait for Smash, MK8, Bayonetta to and X next year.

The writing is HORRIBLE. You have no choices, nothing makes sense, nothing connects, it’s just David Cage saying “i want dis scene” and just makes it without rhyme or reason. The fact Sony even fund his shite is mindblowing.

Last of Us is officially the most overrated game of the year. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very good game, but the gameplay is kind crap and the story is just something we already saw hundreds of times. It fooled everybody with its very good staging, cinematics and stuff of that order.

I like the game, it’s in my top 10 of the year, but jesus…it’s nothing special.
Gun gameplay is good, it’s has that old Resident Evil feel of handicapping the player to make the game intense, and the limited supplies system is good, but everything else is fine, or boring.
It was good, really good actually. I like the crafting, the AI is incredible, the story is gripping and the characters are very well made. It’s not for everyone that I know but for most it is a near perfect game (for it’s genre of course).
How can you say anything thing else is the most overrated game of the year when GRAND THEFT AUTO V came out this year?

Rare got threats from EVERYBODY about Killer Instinct. Now that is back thanks to Double-Helix. Hardly a Nintendo fan only thing. I don’t remember any backlash for Viewtiful Joe or RE4. There was backlash over Rayman Legends going multiplat but again, that was everybody simply because it didn’t make sense to postpone the Wii U version.

Puppeteer is a great game. One of the year’s sleepers and one of the best platformers I have played in a while. Rayman Legends and Puppeteer really surprised me this year when it came to spicing up the platformer genre.
