A Nintendo representative has told Engadget that the company has no plans to offer mini games on iOS and Android. Nintendo has previously said it would use smartphone devices and tablets to market Nintendo products. The news came after Japanese news publication The Nikkei said that Nintendo would offer smartphone games the chance to play trial software on iOS and Android devices.
“Nikkei’s article contains information previously stated by Mr Iwata during past press conferences, including statements which relate to Nintendo’s willingness to make use of smart devices to promote our products.
However during such past announcements Mr Iwata has also stated that Nintendo’s intention is not to make Nintendo software available on smart devices and as such, we can confirm that there are no plans to offer minigames on smartphone devices.”

I hope Nintendo makes like a Nintendo Network ID App that let’s you view Miiverse and other stuff like the eShop and let’s you kind of like text your friends that you have added on the Wii U or 3DS. That would be cool but I don’t see it happening.

windows phone has Xbox games, office, Skype, Bing maps, integrated Bing search, its simple yet in depth.
the live tiles are not just icons but also can give you information without needing to go into the app, yet doing so can give you more info.
if IOS was new York, then android would be Chicago (new York done right) but personally I love Denver (windows) and Denver has legal weed, mountains, and were going to the super bowl. Go Denver, go windows, go Nintendo, screw Sony. Screw apple. And android is….ok
I’m sorry, but from personally owning mulitple androids and windows phone 8 phones, iPhone blow them out of the water. Superior app selection, premium build quality, and the user experience is second to none.

sure they have apps, but IOS has the most boring devices, and their os is boring and dues so little. Maybe if your going through so many devices, you haven’t had time to enjoy them and just settled with the boring one

No, I wasn’t appoligizing for that, I’m apolizing for starting a apple/android war lol. And the only reason i had 2 s4’s and 1 nokia lumia 920 was because the androids literally froze up all the time, and the nokia had a very limited feature set. Also, why does everybody saiy that iOS is boring? It just got a major overhaul, and it you don’t like the way it looks, jailbreak it.

And if there’s one company in the gaming industry that has any similarity with Apple, that’s Nintendo. They do what they want, trying to please their fans, not giving much fucks about what the others do. Both companies released some absolutely great products and some craps, but they both learned of these errors and now the rivals copy them (look at smartphones designs before and after the iPhone or how MS and Sony tried their own Wiimotes after the huge Wii success).
First off windows phone was way before Apple, second blackberry was before that. Next Samsung makes apples chips and screens not apple. Second I don’t care about Sony, they are about dead any ways. Next the technology behind Kinect has bin around for a long time, and its completely different then what Nintendo was offering. Yes Sony copied no question but in what world do you compare a camera to a remote?
second Nintendo has worked with both Microsoft and Nokia in the past, but never apple. You can’t tell me that 6 or so version of the same product by apple is any thing close to Nintendo’s drive for innovation. Android was slow at first, now they own more space then apple, windows phone was remodeled now in just 3 years they have 18% of the market. That’s progress, apple on the other hand well just make yet another boring iPad with no real point to upgrade from the last boring device
right now Android holds about 60% on mobile(cuz of device diversity), iOS 30-35% and Win roughly 5-10%

Honestly, I mean lets put it this way, candy crush made about 5million a day last year. I can only imagine what Nintendo could make with a free to play game(s) and the whole time they could advertise the full game. Like a candy crush version of Zelda, that advertized the new Zelda U. Seriously.
don’t get me wrong I want Nintendo to be on Nintendo. But I also want them to do well. I want my kids and my kids kids to grow up with Mario and such. So if they are looking at smart phones and tablets I hope it makes them money

What are the effects on the value of Nintendo’s IP? A possible effect is it would drop their value.
example: A kid asks a parent he/she wants to play that $50-60 Mario game on a $300 console. The parent looks at the price, then replies, “you already have Mario (Free-play) phone/tablet”.

Yes but at the same time, Nintendo went though a similar risk when deciding to make the Wii U, which hasent bin doing them much good, and again the free to play game would be like a interactive commercial. Something that keep advertizing the real game. Yet at the same time can bring in revenue.
Nintendo has brought its games to other systems in the past, even PC, they only do it to gain extra revenue for a bit. Hell their first donkey Kong game was on Atari
They just need to do the same aggressive marketing they did with the Wii, only more towards real gaming and not casual gaming…

The WiiU came out Years after the Wii … it came out Years after the iPad … it came out after Kinect and even Apple Siri

nobody has ever complained over something they didn’t purchase Nintendo Commander … if the WiiU has zero sales, then there would be no angry customers ;)
sometimes sales are a bad thing … like selling spoiled food … or a gaming console with no eShop … or a gaming console without 2 gamepad functionality … or a console which has zero interaction with it’s hand-held … or a console that still forgets online gaming.
i mean, if 1 variable can be quoted for success … then the WiiU was a 2012 success runaway! … sadly, the WiiU’s story is much broader and complicated than that.
Look, i get it … you buy something and you have a sense of pride-in-ownership and you want to stand-by your commitment … but, i regret my purchase so far. The WiiU leaves me feeling embarrassed that they can’t do the success that’s obvious to me. N64 blew my mind … WiiU is shockingly lacking and broken … do you forget how frozen the OS was when it first came out? … it still has growing problems 14 months after launch.
The Wii shouldn’t have had 6 years in it … and, it didn’t … interest in the Wii ran out 3-4 years … maybe 5, if you want to argue.
Do you honestly expect that the WiiU has 5 years? … if not, consider 14 months a huge chunk of it’s existing life … perhaps half.

I was talking of the approach Iwata said they have for to dealing with the movil market, use it to drive those consumers to buy Nintendo products, but if the approach is not puting demos or minigames on that market , what else can do Nintendo to use the movil market to drive consumers to the Nintendo market?
