A new update for Splatoon has been made available for download. The update, version 1.2.0, implements adjustments for a more pleasant gaming experience. It must be applied in order to use the Internet features of the recently-released third-person shooter, and save data will still be available for use after downloading the update. Splatoon is available now on Wii U in stores and on the Nintendo eShop.

Voice chat quality would suck ass and it would bog down the online process. The console isn’t ideal for the feature. It doesn’t work well at all on any games that already have it.
Works all right in Monster Hunter 3U.
worked great in the two Call of Duty games that featured it as well. all you needed to do was plug in a pair of headphones (like the iphone ones) that have a mic in it and you were good to go! I’d imagine this would be the same process. Voice transmission does not take a lot of bandwith especially in a video game server and shouldn’t bog down the online, but I dunno Nintendo just wants to play parent in this situation I guess.

considering each match is only 3-4 minutes long, who the fuck would even use it? me and my friend simply text each other after matchs or if we wanna hear each others voices we hand in real life… not to mention that every match, you get randomized into different teams, so you would basically be cool with a person one moment, then shit talk him the next.

And that’s another problem. The match lengths are too fucking embarrassingly short. Not only in-game voice chat FOR FRIENDS ONLY is better for convenience but it’s a fair game for those who want it, like it and use it.
