Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival Announced For Wii U, Coming Holiday 2015

Nintendo has announced a new Animal Crossing game for the Wii U in today’s Nintendo Digital Event. We knew a home console game for the franchise was rumoured – there were plenty of hints dotted around in the build up to E3. However, now we can celebrate with Tom Nook, Isabelle and co. in Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival. Effectively, players move around the board game town with the roll of a dice – similar to Mario Party games. Arriving this holiday season for both North America and Europe, AC fans won’t want to miss out, though you’ll have to purchase at least one Animal Crossing amiibo to play.

  1. I don’t think this is what people were thinking of when asking for Animal Crossing on WiiU. So disappointed, was actually looking forward to an actual AC on WiiU with beautiful visuals.

    1. Same here. When I saw the Wii U and Animal Crossing I got so hyped. Then they kept showing Amiibo and I was like …… Then the board game type of style…. *sigh*

Why, Nintendo? Why? This whole Digital Event was a major letdown. One of Nintendo’s worst E3 showings, I have to say.

      1. Couldn’t agree more. I’ve been hoping for Animal Crossing on WiiU for so long now, and I was almost entirely sure that we would see it this year. So so disappointed.
I just can’t believe that was supposed to be it. The whole thing was, as you’ve said, one huge letdown.

  2. I was SO excited when the trailer started, and then I saw the mario party spaces. I then proceeded to tie a noose and hang myself

  3. “Let’s make an Animal Crossing game for Wii U”
“Nah, let’s make a Mario Party game using Animal Crossing characters & amiibo instead!”
    “GENIUS!”
    fuck nintendo

  4. I’m still surprised that I’m not the only one that was disappointed with Nintendo’s E3 this year. I’m usually the only one (besides the trolls that bash even the GOOD games) that says negative stuff about nearly every game.

When it first showed this particular Animal Crossing game, I was thinking it was still the Happy Home Designer game.

  5. I actually thought that this will just be a dlc for mario party not an actual game by itself.

  6. i think that animal crossing like pokemeon is the type of game Nintendo does not want to see on home console and reserve the exclusive to handle console. I really feel sorry for the fans and I think Nintendo has done nothing for the fans in the west.

    1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

At this point, it seems Nintendo will be doing exactly as GameFreak & only making the true Animal Crossing games for handhelds while the home console gets spin-offs. On the subject of Pokemon, that’s GameFreak’s call with keeping the main PKMN games on the 3DS. GameFreak is to Nintendo as Marvel is to Disney: they tend to let them do their own thing with the franchises they develop. Nintendo is pretty good about remaining the publisher for PKMN games even though they do own part of the franchise as well as owning part of GameFreak.

  7. I think this can be ok if it has the game play elements similar to Fortune Street, if its just a straight up random event board game then it will bomb.

  8. The feeling that there’s an Animal Crossing U and then you realize its a party game is too strong >:P

  10. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Yay! Party game! Like Metroid Prime: Federation Force, this is a fucking slap in the face to fans. Fuck you, too, Dumbtendo!

  11. I also am so dissapointed by both the Wii u and the ds game,I really wanted a normal ac game that i could play with my internet friends ,and preferably speak not just type why did you ruin animal crossing!?@#*(anger and sadnes)

Now you know Nintendo won’t add voice chat to Animal Crossing. They hate the idea of people being social with others over the internet. And when they announce no voice chat for Animal Crossing, expect some people to defend that stance for some stupid reason.
