The Mushroom Kingdom Was Brought To Life At Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards

Nickelodeon held their annual Kids Choice Awards today, where kids vote on various favorites from music, film, television, and sports. One of the awards was “Favorite Voice From An Animated Movie”, but it wasn’t as simple as pulling out an envelope and reading the winner off of it.

Mario and Luigi, animated in CGI, appeared in an effort to see who won the award. However, there was the matter of obtaining the envelope first. The Mushroom Kingdom was brought to life and a live-action sequence of jumping over Goombas and hitting coin blocks occurred, courtesy of the crew of Game Shakers, one of Nickelodeon’s shows. The mission was to “complete the level” and grab the envelope, which was on the flagpole.

Nickelodeon’s Twitter had something to say on the matter afterwards:

As for the segment itself, very little footage of it currently exists and the footage that does is not in the best quality. The one below is currently the best one we can find. If we do find a better quality video, we’ll update the article.

    1. Oh, there’s also this here “cod” thing I’ve heard of, in which the object of the game seems to be to hurl defamations of character, sexuality or race at the opposing player, which makes you win or something, I guess? I guess it’s a training game for becoming a franchise manager at a fast food joint?

  1. They really did up the ante on the marketing and set pieces. The only thing wrong were some of the winners, i mean Just Dance over Super Mario Maker, Spongebob over Gravity Fall, and Justin Beiber over every other singer

    1. What I find funny is that at one point they said they were not solely meant for kids. Yet another thing they not only went back on, but also that isn’t even what they originally were.

      1. Exactly. That’s the reason by which we, longtime, loyal fans, get so pissed off. I would not care about Nintendo’s support being aimed for kids as long as hardcore — I know you know what I mean by “hardcore” here — fans could get the same treatment.
