One of the more prominent mistakes in the Gamecube’s life cycle was the obvious lack of third party support.

As Nintendo’s rival Sony has shown was its PlayStation brand software, consumers want selection. Although Nintendo has a great track record with producing great quality first party titles, this alone just isn’t good enough as the user base for the Gamecube shows. Now of late Nintendo seem to be finally building upon this idea of gaining more third party’s support for its consoles, with developers literally clambering to get on-board Nintendo’s recent handheld the Ds which helps illiterate that the company’s recent strategy has started to become a success.

It now looks like Nintendo is trying to entice more third party developers than ever to embrace its next generation console the Wii. According to fellow on-line blog Kotaku it appears that Nintendo are currently sending out free Wii development kits to a size-able amount of small developers, in the hope that the chosen company’s will produce some form of output for Nintendo revolutionary new console. As I mentioned before consumers always want choice, and by getting on-board as many developers as possible to create unique and fantastic games, interest in Nintendo’s innovative new console from a consumer’s perspective can certainly only rise.

  1. Exactly.

Nintendo needs all the third party support it can gather to make the Wii a complete success. Certainly a wise move on the companys part.

    :)

  2. Even better is what this is going to mean for smaller developers. The Wii will make it even easier for them to create and release their games with this news and of course, the virtual console.
