At the press conference which took place earlier this week Nintendo reiterated that it intends to shift 10 million units of its ever popular touch screen based handheld, the Nintendo Ds by the end of the year.
Currently Nintendo has confirmed that 6 million units have been shifted in this region alone and went on to mention that a whooping 100,000 Nintendo Ds are sold consistently every week, which I’m sure you can imagine, is a magnificent quantity.
Nintendo also made sure that it made mention of the fact that the company has maintained 70 percent of the handheld market share for the past 11 weeks, something the company as expected is of course extremely proud of.
Laurent Fischer, European marketing director for Nintendo had this to say on the matter “Nintendo has always sought to innovate and produce games and consoles that appeal to everyone irrespective of age or experience.” With the variety of Ds software on offer at the moment, he’s certainly not wrong there.
Hehe, I saw the 70% DS, 30% Other handheld consoles chart. A slighly obvious jab at the PSP.
Ha, yes I must admit I chuckled when I saw that image as it was obviouly a rather blatent dig at Sony.
