Numerous video gaming related forums have been awash with insinuations suggesting that high profile American stores such as Toys ‘R Us and Target are hoarding large quantity’s of Nintendo Wii’s.

These questionable rumours are supposedly coming direct from charitable employees working for the aforementioned retail chains who’re evidentially playing the good Samaritan by tipping off gamers who’re anxiously awaiting the Wii.

  1. I think it is absolutely astounding that the Wii is still in this great of a demand from the public. I don’t think Nintendo expected this at all. :) The only thing that I am hoping to God that Nintendo does, is make somewhat of a decent online strategy. That is what I am really waiting for! ;)

  2. I don’t think it’s a matter of hoarding over long periods of time, but rather that they get shipments in and hold them to coordinate their release with circulars (maybe a week or so). This way, they can capitalize on the popularity of the Wii and draw people into the store with the circular.

Our relatively rural Super Target had about 25 in stock this morning. There were about 8 of us there when the doors opened.

  3. yeah same here online play in all games is a great option, i mean for example if Wii sports had online play, people wouldn’t be whining about not having more games toplay,, that would sure keep them busy and show that nintendo is ready for the next gen. they could possibly do that through an update but its too much trouble i guess…
