Mario Kart producer Hideki Konno has told Nintendo Power that he wishes to create a new Mario Kart title for Wii U which takes full advantage of the consoles unique capabilities. Konno wouldn’t be drawn into what he has planned other than saying it was a secret.
“I can’t get into specifics, but I do want to create a new and enjoyable Mario Kart that uses the unique functions of the Wii U. Anything beyond that I have to keep secret. Please bear with me for now.”

Hell yeah. :D Mario Kart is beast.
No that’s Bowser but close enough xD
It’s already in the works *faints*
Awesome. :D I think it’ll be epic.
It needs both single and double kart racing…
I think Double Dash is my favorite Mario Kart yet.
Mine as well. Co-op mode would be welcome again.
I just love both. And think about online, with 12 karts and 24 players at once.
EPIC!!!
*-*
Im sorry im not here right now…..
BCZ MY MIND JUST EXPLODED EVERYWHERE :D
Hell yeah… i mean… was obvious but, hell yeah!!!!!!
track editor with the new controller would be really nice
^ This or something like everybody else says
Track Editor!!!!!! X infinity
When you get a green shell during races, you can aim them with your controller.
This ^ Only aiming with the second joystick is better.
I want tracks which can me driven the other way round, not just mirrored!
It’s a shame that not 4 wii controllers can be used at the same time. There would be so much opportunities (like “secret item” or “rear view mirror” or whatever)
I meant Wii U Controllers :) The one with the display :-P
It’s called a tablet.
No, it’s called the WiiPad
No, it’s actually called the New Controller, until Nintendo changes it’s damn name, hopefully.
The Nintendo uPad.
They changed it. They said that now you’ll be able to have up to 4 Wiipads or tablets or whatever the blazes you wish to call them. Me? I call them awesome :3
I call them NinTablets.
Didn’t they say they’re working on getting two working on the console and four is unlikely?
You could use 2 wii you controllers and two 3ds systems
wii you haha I ***Wii U controllers
I see what you did there
Mario Kart is just like a regular mario or zelda game. You can’t call it a Nintendo console/handheld unless you have a mario platformer, zelda game, and mario kart
I’m sensing a track creator and the Wii U pad screen being used as the rear view mirror
Think about this, they could possibly introduce a new, lets say Purple shell, that lets you use the tablet to select who you’d like it to seek out and destroy!
^THIS FUCK YEAH.
dude thats the best idea ive heard in my entire life
Are you working for nintendo yet?
Or why not star bits, that constantly shoot from your car while you aim on the screen(or the second joystick).
Or Nintendo could possibly talk F-Zero since they just released a Mario Kart for 3DS and F-Zero hasn’t seen any love this generation at all. :)
Mario kart 3ds releases in December. Mario Kart Wii U probably hasn’t even gone into the early planning stages. And it will probably not be in the Wii U’s launch line-up or launch window.
A new F-Zero has not been released because there is no way to improve on the previous game yet. Maybe the Wii U’s added power will see to that being possible.
I know. I’d be totally cool with no F-Zero if it meant they were developing a fully HD version for the Wii U with a full track editor and crazy online MP.
If they’re going to be making a new Mario Kart game for Wii U, it should feature all courses from Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario Kart; Double Dash, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii, and Mario Kart 7, as it should celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2012. And the preview of it should appear on EXPO 12.
While that would be awesome, I think it would come more likely as DLC :(. They can always have more than 16 new and 16 classics races (included)…
Hopefully it’ll be more balanced, unlike Mario Kart Wii.
The 3 most recent haven’t had balance, why should the Wii U have it?
Double Dash was unbalanced since matched light weights with 2 different specials went unmatched.
MarioKart DS was the most unbalanced allowing infinite powersliding through out the whole level (also known as snaking).
Mariokart Wii was more balanced than the 2 above, but the emphasis was bike selection over cart selection. Carts were not made to match the extra speed that the bikes got during wheelies. The carts/bikes showed the stats, so in real races you wouldn’t match a slow car with a faster one, or a slow bike with a faster bike.
But at least with Mario Kart DS powersliding took some skill, with Mario Kart Wii you either did really good or really bad. If you were in first and got hit by something, you’d end up in at least 10th when you recover. Recovery time took way too long, you’d spin out then your character would flail around a bit before you could start moving again.
Whether you win or lose, with items on, in Mario Kart Wii really just came down to luck because if you got hit by something in the last lap that pretty much guaranteed that you’re not going to win.
Are you talking online or GP? GP I had no problem coming back from last. Online it depends on the opponents. I have no trouble winning online. I have a 8000 some ranking. Items are part of the game, I didn’t notice any ‘extended’ recovery time.
I’ve been hit midway through the last lap and came back and won as well. I’ve had some wins against the legit 9000 ranked people, but there is that luck factor, which has been in the game since Mariokart 64 with the introduction of multiple items per lap, and power weapons (like the spiny shell). Luck is always a factor in games like this, which is why you say Mariokart DS was “skill” since spiny shells didn’t stop the snakers from winning.
It also really depended on your cart or bike. If you pick the highest speed bike/cart, those have no acceleration. So you can’t expect to start up immediately and be at full speed within seconds.
DS power sliding took no skill. It actually made races really cheap. In wii it depends how sharp your turning. If you do it like you do for the DS you just slow down. And if your really good at MK wii you’ll always most likely be 1st or 2nd (3rd minimum). Items did make the game waaaay more balanced for all players so that worse players can still enjoy the game.
My online rating is 9899, it’s not that hard. It takes REAL skill to win ;)
precisely
I really hope Nintendo can get a company like Retro Studios to work on it. :D
***** Looks at E3 developers conference and hears that Retro Studios worked on the Donkey kong Country Returns style course for Mario Kart 7 ********
So yeah Retro Studios has worked on mario kart.
But first: Mario Kart 7! :D
Fairly misleading headline since what he’s saying is that he can’t, in fact, talk about Mario Kart for Wii U..
You honestly think that Mario Kart isn’t coming to the Wiiu
Btw, I love the new mobile layout!
Mario Kart on Wii U?! Totally unexpected!
i wonder what characters and power–ups are in mkwiiu
I came.
From where? xD
You don’t want to know
I’d love to see battle courses as insane as Baby Park was in Double Dash. Seriously, the second the race started, the track became a war zone, and I would LOVE to see chaos like that in a battle course. Just go completely wild. And I’m also for the track editor. I want to make insane race tracks and then race my friends online on my custom track while I use the toilet. There are so many possibilities!
No cloud power and we’ll be gold
or pow
TRACK CREATION MODE!!! I ask for nothing else, please Nintendo let it be. who give’s a crap if its gonna be copying modnation racers a bit, I WANT THIS!!!
If they already started working on it it better be a launch TITLE or a title release a couple week or one month after. Sales will RISE QUICK WITH MARIO KART AT LAUNCH seeing Mario Kart Wii at 28.80 million
They should make all of these announcements a surprise. They only talk about making games when they should indeed start making the games. Mario Kart 7 and Skyward Sword have not been released yet, but they’re already talking about the next entries for Wii U. Bring some variation like F-Zero or something.

Well, besides an improvement in graphics, the good thing would be that each different player could bring a tablet controller and join the race, without having to share the main tv screen, the tablet also works as a steering wheel having a gyroscope.
I think Mario Kart for the Wii U will come out in 2013.

i hope there are no bugs and glitches in it, maybe out of boundses that are part of the track, for shortcuts :D
