      1. Fire Emblem is made by Intelligent Systems which is a first party company of Nintendo, so yes Fire Emblem is developed by Nintendo.

      2. Wouldn’t u call Intelligent Systems a second party company because they develop only for Nintendo, but their games aren’t made just by Nintendo, but by another branch of Nintendo?

      3. No they are owned by nintendo, and are part of Nintendo co ltd, making them a first party developer, they were originaly created to port famicom disk games to nes cartridges. meaning they have always been part of nintendo

    1. No, they said that dlc would be meaningful, not crap that should’ve been in the game from the start. I’m personally excited and believe nintendo honestly knows how to handle this. Don’t be affraid this a good thing. :D

      1. You guys need to stop acting like this so bad. Jesus, its dlc, its not going be like crapcom or activison’s bs rip offs. Nintendo knows not to screw over people, they have said this. Nintendo of america doesn’t decide shit, so don’t know why you said that, Iwata said it and hes nintendos fuckin president. Tell me how this is bad exactly?

      2. Ditto. This isn’t an issue so long as they don’t put out an incomplete game. I give Intelligent Systems more credit than that. If the game is finished, DLC, even paid DLC, is optional of you want more play time/character/whatever.

      3. Exactly, paid or not it will only add to the gameplay. Nintendo has had 5years to see what consumers want and don’t want from dlc, they know what their doing. Im thinking about free SSB characters/levels/items down the road! If the small-minded want to stay in the past, i say fuck em’ its their choice. Thats the beauty of dlc, its a choice to buy or not, but condemning something you know NOTHING about is pure ignorance.

  1. Now THIS is something I’ve wanted to hear. The Fire Emblem games are PERFECT for DLC, and I could really see new multiplayer map packs (Similar to Call of Duty, except better value for money) being implemented into the game, and also new single-player challenges as well.

im still going to get the game, just not the dlc.. like always. i dont care if it adds to the story, ill never support this DLC bullshit devs are trying to pull.

      2. There is no such thing as conformity you jack ass, you are conforming to the non-conformist way if you don’t conform. DLC (paid or free) is a good thing, just because Activision and Capcom over price for the products they put up for it does not mean Nintendo will do the same.

      3. I agree totally, ultimately what we’ll see is some decent well priced DLC in the form of new areas or campaigns to play. Additional characters or maps etc. nothing like what CoD has done to DLC. Think of it akin to what Bethesda have done (aside from horse armor though), Nintendo would be the type to give you something substantial in the way of DLC. This only makes me real happy as the thought of being able to get DLC for Nintendo franchises is just awesome, especially on my handheld and WiiU to boot.

This can only mean good news for Nintendo and The Players.

  2. Nintendo said that they would offer free DLC if the changes were minimal or not that big. They did say they would only provide paid DLC if the content was more than just a little, so I expect something like expansion packs, which is DLC, and more sidequests.

Maybe they’re announcing this prior to the game’s release to broaden the appeal of the series to more people. After all, Fire Emblem is popular, but it doesn’t set any sales on fire, so offering more content in the future is a good start. Maybe they’ll also offer more mansions for Luigi’s Mansion 2 as DLC in the future.

  3. Interesting. If they play their card right, FE13 would do great with DLC.

I love the concept of DLC and hopefully Nintendo gets it.

    1. DownLoadable Content. It could be something like new maps, new gear, or ew characters.

Dead or Alive Dimensions and Samurai Warriors Chronicles are example of this with their daily/weekly spotpass content. They were one weapon/costume items at a time, so it was free DLC. Your 3DS automatically downloads that.

      1. DLC is stuff that should have been in the game from the beginning, but they take then away, then make you pay for it seperatly.

        Like

      2. Not necessarily. It’s just content you can download. Some take advantage of that and be cheap by just not including it so you can pay for it, but it’s possible that they just forgot something.

      3. Bullshit. DLCs’ are usually made after release and are ment for increased replay value. Also, game-developers usually have a deadline where the game has to be finished in time. Take Mario Kart DS as an example, it was initially supposed to have a points system during online play but it was excluded because the game had to be finished in time, wouldn’t DLC had been great, if possible, back then?

Now, Activision and some other certain publishers are a completely different story…

      4. Spotpass content is not DLC. The coding is in the game already, so it’s only unlocking things for you. DLC is actually downloading something new, like an extra storyline in Assassin’s Creed or more maps in Halo.

        Like

      5. Even so, they still need to send out a “code” to unlock them, just like how Capcom and other companies do on the PS3 and 360.

  4. They said DLC should be valuable things that add stuff to the game, and not stuff that should be in the game to begin with. Surely they’re contradicting themselves, as this planned DLC could be added to the game beforehand, and they shouldn’t be talking about adding extra DLC before the game is even out without being quite hypocritical.

    1. Don’t care if paid or free as long as it isn’t on the game I”m paying it. If it is on the dgame I am not.
Example would be CoD Black Ops Zombie mode stages that is lock which is stupid.

  5. I am disappointed Nintendo. What makes this news worse is that is a first party game, I would expect this kind of news from a third party developer like activision with CoD 3DS.

    1. Nobody is putting a gun to you’re head and making you buy the DLC. so just shut up and enjoy the game and let people who likes paying for more stuff buy it ok dude
