GAME Has Just One Week To Raise £180m Or It’s Game Over

The Sunday Times is reporting that UK video game retailer GAME has to cough up £180 million to pay creditors or it will face administration. The publication says that GAME has a £21m rent payment due on Sunday, a £12m wage bill due soon afterwards, and that the company owes more than £10m in deferred VAT and £40m to various video game suppliers.

    1. now i would love to buy an original ds for 20 bucks cause i dont have a dsi or 3ds cause no gameboy advance compatibility

  1. i went to support them after hearing they were in trouble, they sold me pokemon black for £35!!!! i now say they brought it on themselves

    1. 10,000 people will lose they’re job! But I’m really sorry to hear you had to pay for a game. You choose to buy it. Staff aren’t choosing to lose their job. Mindless cretin. Get your priorities sorted.

      1. True.

The Situation of job losses here in England is massive…

        http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17364461

Theres already 2.67M Unemployed people in the UK and thats very bad… the population in the UK is about 64M.

It’s just a rip-off the way so many shops are closing down which is not helping, 2 months ago in my city centre I saw 3 Tech shops close down in 1 month. No tech left here.

Screw online and hate Conservative party, they started this job crisis.

I really hated it when people chose Conservative because i knew this was going to happen just like back in 80s when they got chosen.

        1. It’s not easy to get a job in the UK. I worked at both Gamestation and La Senza, whom have both gone under. Those jobs weren’t easy to get, but they paid well.
It’s so hard to get any work in the UK. Seriously. Even McDonalds turns people away.
So stop being a douche, jobs matter.

          1. Really? The guy above posted that 2.6M out of 64M are unemployed, that’s around 4%. That is a pretty good unemployment rating. US has around 9 or 10% and had around 3 or 4% during its best economic years.

  2. It’s sad, I don’t want Game to go. Where am I meant to go now HMV? Which is insanely overpriced compared to Game/Gamestation.

    1. Buying game on-line would the cheapest and best options or you could buy your game from the supermarket.

  3. It’s a shame to see them go under. It’s not about ‘where we’ll buy our games’ – it’s about the fact that so many people are losing jobs.
Online retail and the UK government is killing the high street. It’s sad to see it, even though I’ve moved to Hong Kong. It’s like ‘who’s next?’.
In a selfish light, I’m super happy I spent my reward points before I left the UK – I had £90 credit haha.

  4. While they have had some great deals recently in their pre-owned section their new games are as expensive as ever. Now that most of the really good deals have been snapped up its just the same old tired games at slightly discounted prices.

They seem to be trying their best to get pre-owned versions of the new games. Mass Effect 3 etc. I noticed they had 3 pre-owned copies of this one on the shelves yesterday priced £39.99.

New on amazon is £36.99. hmmmm
