Wii U Now Sold Out At Toys R Us

You can now add Toys R Us as another North American retailer that has completely sold out of its allocated pre-order stock of Wii U. Both the Premium 32GB and Basic 8GB Wii U consoles are sold out at the popular retail outlet. If you search for both models there’s some blurb that suggests that they may have pre-orders back up and running at a later date.

Thanks, Chris

      1. Here in Dominican Republic they LIKE taxes.
Anything above 200 dollars must pay it. For consoles is 56%
        GREAT THEFT.

I will be looking for some relative or fiend coming for christmass to send the money.

  1. I hope GameStop restocks within the next two months. Only reason I didn’t pre order at Toy’s R Us is b/c I have a $50 GS gift card.

      1. Well definitely not a better trade in policy. They’ll give you $5 for a game, then put it on te shelf and charge $20. I can’t imagine how much you’d loose on consoles.

        1. The problem is that that is the only way they make any money so they would be ruined if they actaully gave you value for your games.

    1. Best bet for that would be a place like Target or Walmart. Thankfully have a local Target near me that’s pretty obscure so.. best wishes!

      1. Yea I preordered the deluxe package at BestBuy yesterday its going to be sweet and in best buy you have to make a payment of $5 to pre-order not like paying $50 at GameStop

  2. Strange, about 5 minutes before this was posted,I went to Toys-R-Us to pre-order the deluxe set.I got it preordered so it could just be store based.

        1. Nah, having long hair has nothing to do with the current article. Instead of focusing on my complexion, how about you stop judging others on their looks? Maybe get an actual gravatar of yourself and not be anonymous?

  3. I was just wondering… Did Nintendo announce that the Wii U would be region locked? because they usually have all their systems region locked.

    1. What do you mean??? Of course it is region blocked!!! It HAS to be… and it has nothing to do with Nintendo at all. It has to do with te way televisions work. Diferent countries have diferent electeical and graphical outlets that only work with products in their region. Nintendo has to tailor their products to fit each region. This also plays into game disks, because the way each one is read depends on the region as well. Dont blame Nintendo, blame the fact that the world is not yet as unified as it should be.

      1. lol.. then explain how ps3 can be region free? only one games on ps3 afaik, is region blocked.. and few dlc’s..

the reason why that one game on ps3 is region locked is currency strength, said so by that respective developer himself.. so if that particular games only uses one language across all region, chances are ppl in country with stronger currency will import the game is pretty high.. shipment costs + the game price can actually become lower than the local game price.. this importing phenomenon put inaccurate demographics and sale number for each region.. while I don’t know how huge is the impact to the developer, they have their own reason to region block their game..

yeah tv format can be a factor, but that didn’t stop the ps3 from being region free..

  4. If your stock is small, of course you’re going to sell out.

It’s like you guys are focusing only on the fact that it sold out and not “how much it sold out.”

The key to definitive selling success isn’t that you “sold out,” but that you “sold out a LOT.”

If I only had one item in stock and somebody pre-ordered it, well then I guess I “sold out,” didn’t I?

I’m not saying this is the case, I’m saying you guys should be smart and think about these things. It’s key to being more grown-up.

All of that being said, it’s mindboggling that Toy R Us is still alive.

    1. But this is every store. Id understand you’re point if it was just one store, but this is every branch in the company, thats sold out entirely, and on top of that Gamestop and Best Buy are sold out too

  5. The stores still have them. My buddy is an employee at work at toys r us right now and she says they have tons of pre-order tickets left. Change the article to Sold out at TOYSRUS.COM.

    1. You’re really pathetic.

The majority of these pre-orders are the fans who always wanted one. This isn’t a surprise to anyone. Preorders for virtually any sort of “major release” go out in no time at all. Why you insist on making this some sort of bragging right is beyond me, but I guess such is the simple mind and comprehension skills of a Nintendo fanboy.

I have eaten no words and you’ll watch and see when the sales become a total slump after the typical holiday rush. Watch.

  6. This is getting out of controll sold out everywhere this is fucking crazy sorry for language but seriously this is crazy

    1. Idiot, you know nothing about the game industry. It just like food in the store, once its gone you have to wait for the next shipment… This is pre-orders therefore the only way they can make more pre-orders is if Nintendo makes more Wii Us. Pre-orders are based on how many will be shipped. If I receive a fax saying I will be receiving 15,000 Wii Us on 11/17/12 so I can stock for the release date, I can only allow that many pre-orders. Some retailers will maybe keep 1,000 for walk ins on the release date.

    2. its not nintendo you cum drinker its stores like gamestop bestbuy walmart and toyrus that says soldout to hold on to the systems to make there own bundles and rape your pockets

  7. These sellouts seem so contrived, Nintendo is shipping out low numbers to create a false demand AGAIN. Gs near me is getting 12 Wii U…. For a city with over a million people, that’s insane.

    1. I feel like that’s a fair number since one would assume a city of over a million people would have more than one gamestop. Hell my city has no where near a million and we have 3 different gamestops.

but no worries for me! My roommates and I paid off our deluxe wiiu’s right after the conference :D

    2. its stores like gamestop bestbuy walmart and toyrus that says soldout to hold on to the systems to make there own bundles and rape your pockets

        1. How is it Apple can make 5 million iPhones for launch and Nintendo doesn’t come close to that. I agree demand is very high but Nintendo can make more to meet demand but they want the hype too.

          1. According to Wii U News’ Kyo Sasaki, video game analyst Michael Pachter, “He bases this on his expectation that Nintendo will manufacture 1 million Wii U consoles per month, which would mean Nintendo would ship 7 million consoles through March 2013.”

  8. Yea when they say retailers have “sold out” its only for online. When it says that, it means that retailers have sold out online! When it said that BestBuy had sold out of Wii U preorders, I went to Best Buy and they still had the preorders but only INSTORE. I already preordered mine you can preorder yours too but in store only when it says that its “sold out”. Like the post they made that it sold out at toys r us the wii u has sold out ONLINE but you can still preorder in store :D

  9. I luckily pre-ordered the deluxe online for Walmart. So shipping will make me wait a few more days, it’ll be worth it.

  10. well I read a lot of articles/blogs where i can read a lot of quotes from so call financial/marketing experts who were worry and predicted a failure at launch. It seems for me a good start but let see if Nintendo will increase the sale in one or two years time (i hope so).

Personally I will wait a year before I buy the Wii U, cause I am not in such hurry and i still have a lot of games to finish. What would also be very interesting is to see if in a near future, Nintendo will also copy the same business model as Sony and Microsoft for their DLC.

If that’s the case I don’t think I will be bothered. So far one of the reason I like the WII is that you have a full game and not 80%-90% of the game at launch then 20%-10% a month after.

  11. Hey Sickr that’s not true I had my friend pre-Order His Wii U Deluxe at Toys R Us just a few hours ago and he said they were still available..

  12. I pre ordered on the 13th at Gamestop. Put down $100 on a deluxe, NSMBU, and Zombie U.

I am not going through the bullshit again like I did on the Wii.

  15. i just made my wii deluxe preorder today (09-19-12), it was supossed to be out for preorder, i was surprised they took my preorder for the deluxe edition, they have a little paper with both versions on it and they just scan the deluxe edition barcode, i give them 20 bucks, and thats was all, im feel very insecure about if i will get my wii u on release date, are toysrus selling more wii us they can??

    1. same here. but i called before i went to my toys r us and they said they were allowed to get 5 more deluxe editions. ran out and got my pre-order for the deluxe. i called toys r us numerous amount of times and they all said if you have the slip, you will get a wii u at launch day. it might be different for each store, handling pre-orders better than others, but lets just pray we get one.
