Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has told Games Industry International that he wasn’t overly pleased when Nintendo announced the price points for the Wii U Deluxe set and the Wii U Basic set. Guillemot said to the publication that he hopes Nintendo will drop the price in the not too distant future.
“I always prefer lower pricing, so I can’t say I’m happy.”
“I’m never happy when the machines are expensive. What we have to do there is remember that compared to an iPad, it’s cheap. With what it brings [to the gaming table] it’s cheap. But I hope they’ll be able to drop their price in time.”

Trine 2 directors cut , ZombiU , Rayman Legends all look fucking sweet. Even NSMBU looks fucking sweet. Many games do. When developers work out how to use the wiiU properly , believe me it is going to look very fucking good indeed. The developers havn’t even scratched the surface yet.

When Europe has the largest profit of anywhere in the world despite being the smallest and most difficult continent to cater for, there’s a big problem. Sure, it seems like a good deal when you consider all you get in the box but when you can get a good quality Xbox 360 for $300, in the UK at least, the Wii U may have a struggle. Considering that the Wii U is selling for a at loss, $300 – $350 in price range, I do not see why anyone would complain about it. It could have been higher. It is best to appreciate what is given to you and not be ungrateful. Besides, $300 is a deal considering what you are getting. A game controller with a high-resolution screen and other features added to it, and HD console with online features, etc, and many other features. The price range now is fitted towards the system.

I’m not super upset with Wii U’s pricing because it will be sold at a loss but I also can see where Yves is coming from. Possibly in two years we might see a Wii U price cut but it would be more likely to be three or four. I just hope this system will not miss out on a bunch of great third party titles like the Wii did. This is my only concern for Wii U.
The price is ok, I just wish it had more than 32 gig storage space. I wish it had double the storage space they are offering. I don’t know why people are saying the Wii U is just on par with Xbox 360 and PS3, I thought it has a more powerful GPU, 4x’s as much RAM, and a more powerful CPU, just the clock speed is slow to keep power consumption down.

it is not expensive for what you get in output, thinking back to the 80’s with the NES $100 at toys r us with inflation that is $201.86 . but some people paid as much as $140 back then witch works out at $282.60 today. so looking at that no i don’t think it is to expensive i was expecting a higher price i was surprised

A high speed HDMI cable. That can run you anywhere from $10-$60
The controller & console stands. I would say those would go for $5-$$10
The sensor bar: $5-$15
Nintendo Land: $50-$60
Nintendo just saved you almost/over $100 USD. And for people in other countries like me, who would have to import their Wii U from America, converting their countries’ currency to USD, a 6 to 1 ratio btw, I’m very thankful. Saves me a lot of money. Leave luck to heaven.
Forgot to mention the Deluxe digital promotion. That’s a plus too.
Not so expensive in comparison to last gen’s launch prices (lol 600 US dollars).
Well I’m not pleased with paying $60+ for a Ubisoft game
Just remember that they are selling Wii U without profit! If they wanted to make profit for every console sold, they would have to put the price even higher! They won’t lower the price so soon, and that’s perfectly understandable.
