The indie platformer successfully reached its funding goal of $40,000, with just under $50,000 in the crowdfunding pot. Just two days ago, Teku Studios revealed that the game would officially be coming to the Wii U, after they recently became Nintendo Wii U developers. Originally, the developers’ plan was to release the game on the PC only, and add stretch goals to other platforms as they saw fit – the Wii U had a stretch goal of $85,000 – but since becoming Wii U developers they have pulled their resources and will create unique gameplay to work with Nintendo’s home console and GamePad.
Candle is due for release on the PC in January 2014, with the Wii U eShop release scheduled not long after. Let us know your thoughts on Candle in the comment section below, but in the mean time check out the pitch video above and Teku Studios recent update below.
“We love Nintendo platforms since our childhood has been full of them, so it was natural for us to go for it. We are already thinking about dedicated gameplay on Wii U – we are not doing any kind of quick port. We will design specific gameplay features for its gamepad: all the menus, inventory and minigames will be tactile-controlled on the touchscreen, as well as other unique actions concerning Teku’s candle. We will talk more deeply about this when we start developing all that stuff.”
First.
To greet our new allies…
Great job, we have to show them that they can’t trust and enjoy themselves in our Empire…
*CAN
Dear gracious me…
Another independent developer approved by Nintendo. Candle is gonna be an awesome indie title for both PC and Wii U.
HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE! did anyone else catch that!? he said the shader uses direct X11! yet its coming to the wii u. SQUARE ENIX IS BULL SHITTING WITH KH3! THEY JUST GOT EXPOSED BY AN INDIE DEVELOPER! XD
Welcome to the wonderful age of the future where our Empire and our hundreds of new Indie Tribes Allies together exposes and discards of the liars and corruptors…
I also caught that I think it slightly puts squre enix to shame and proves they are lazy devs
And the fall of the big developers and the rise of the independents shall begin…lol
i wonder why Sickr doesnt turn this newly established news of direct x 11 is compatible on the wii u on the site we need more good news
Miiverse will be pissed!!!

You must be forgetting all the games coming out between now and Christmas. And x bayonetta 2 and smash bros. As for last gen im 100% sure is in the 8th gen hardwear making it next gen not last gen. Trolls prove they have no brains
Like I have said before aswell as jtz and Gamer…
These Sonyan Drones have a shorter memory capacity than a Goldfish with Alzheimers…
Hey, stop humiliating Goldfish and Alzheimer by comparing them with Sonyan Drones.
of course, here are the lame defenses from the few lousy sheep that keep saying the same shit over and over again, just like nintendo with their lousy kiddie games.
all those games you fools keep bringing up are ok but you all use them as argument breakers way to often.
learn to sing a new song, sheep.
oh yeah, jtz and gamer are the same, great choice of ONE friend, lol.
IGNORING that they are both loosers.
Wii U mad, efshit?
Cool, can’t wait!
The video game industry needs to see more of this sort of thing.
So…..
Candle can make it.
Hat in time can make it.
Ghost Song can make it
But….
Shadow of the Eternal can NOT make it…
:( :( :(
A long as Hat in Time make it, I’m ok.
Well square enix claim that the wii u doesn’t support direct x 11 just backfired in thier faces. so kingdom hearts 3 can be released on the wii u. Why did square enix lie, i had thought that square enix games have always sold very well on nintendo consoles. Hell, even the dragon quest game ports on the nintendo ds had managed to sell very well, so why is square enix doubting if they will make a profit off of the wii u by putting kingdom hearts 3 and the new final fantasy game on it
The real reason is because of sales. Since WiiU has been in a rut for quite some time, they are understandably hesitant to commit to the platform. Of course, they’re also blindly assuming that PS4 and XBox One will lead, but to be honest, neither system seems to be shaping up to fare any better than WiiU has so far. Considering that both games are still in development, we still have a chance of getting KH III. By the time the game is almost ready, the system will be well out of its rut.
But it’s not understandable. The reason the Wii U is in a rut is because of lazy developers not developing for the console. Remember all the third party support that the Wii U had before it released? Suddenly, all that third party support disappeared after it was released and yet… they claim that they won’t develop for it because of its lack of sales. Well, gee… I fucking wonder why it has lackluster sales. Perhaps they should, you know, support it like they originally were going to!
Oh… also, they’re releasing KH3 and FFXV for the XBox One… which, by the way, everyone hates. So… they’re still going to be losing money on the games that they refuse to release for a console which they would sell moderately well on.
Also… KH3… a game that many gamers have wanted for a very long time… would help to sell units. So, once again… their excuse that the Wii U isn’t selling well is just… not a good excuse, because that could easily be rectified by releasing third party titles for it.
Wait… DirectX 11? HA! I knew it. Square lied to us when they said that DirectX 11 wouldn’t run on the Wii U. After that lie about how Frostbite and Cryengine wouldn’t run on the Wii U… I had my suspicions about this also being a lie. And my suspicions were confirmed. By an indie developer, no less.
