In a bid to expand video games into mainstream cinema, Ubisoft has announced an upcoming Watch Dogs film provisionally listed for 2015. The movie was announced as part of the Sony Conference at this year’s Gamescom – where they unveiled the latest trailer featuring hacker group DedSec – and marks Ubisoft Motion Pictures’ fifth film to be greenlit as others wait in the pipeline to be released.
An Assassin’s Creed movie starring (albeit rumoured) Michael Fassbender and the Splinter Cell film with Tom Hardy attached (again, rumoured) as the protagonist Sam Fisher are also due to be released in 2015 as a tentative date. Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet said the following below in support of the announcement. Watch Dogs will be released on the Wii U, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for North America on November 19 and Europe on November 22.
“Since both Sony and Ubisoft have movie and video game branches, this deal creates exceptional opportunities for us to merge the realms of the story-based cinematic experience with the interaction of the video game. Sony Pictures and New Regency have deep production expertise and are letting us maintain a strong creative voice in the film’s development. Together, we’re confident we can deliver a movie that builds upon the excitement that the game is already generating.”

So I’m guessing the Wii U is chop liver to them.

Jesus fuck Ubisoft, at least wait till people play the damn game!!!!!!! This will get incredibly awkward for them if the game turns out to be shit and no one buys it. Hypothetically, of coarse.
Am I the only one that actually wanted this? I’m hoping that they have Wes Bentley play Aiden Pierce. Really looking forward to the Splinter Cell movie with Tom Hardy and Assassin’s Creed as well. Definitely going to give these movies a shot and I hope they don’t disappoint.
