Earlier this month, Nintendo took the R4 card seller HackYourConsole.com to court after legal implications claiming that the site “blatantly promotes and sells unauthorized Nintendo games along with devices and services that circumvent the security in the Nintendo DS system and the Wii console.” Now, reports are flooding in that the website has permanently shut down its operating system in North America. A visit to HackYourConsole.com will result in the following statement: “The site is out of service. At this time all pre-orders have been cancelled. No new orders will be accepted.”
HackYourConsole has not given an official statement on behalf of the lawsuit Nintendo filed, but it’s pretty clear that the website is now out of business with its Twitter and Facebook pages having folded also. Nintendo has been hot on the heels of R4 Card sellers and other pirating software dealers for a number of years, so this is certainly another win for the gaming giant in its appeal to stamp out piracy.

Anyone who illegally downloads current gen games today is just a cheap douche bag. “Boo hoo they are so expensive over here.” People complain about prices everywhere, it’s not exclusive to any country. My tip, buy online, buy games on sale, download them from the eShop. You don’t need games to live, if you love them you’ll support them. Plain and simple. Don’t be a pirate bastard. Devs need food on their tables too.

Prices for video games in Australia are twice as expensive as they are in America, and one and a half times as expensive as England. There is no justifiable reason for this, as found by a recent independent inquiry. I think there’s a right to complain about prices there.
Still they have cheap and legal alternatives. They are just looking for cheap scuses.
Game prices in Sweden are usually a lot more than in the states too, that’s where the internet comes in. Australia are lucky to have the same region code as Europe so they can easily import the games! Plus, the PS3, Vita, and PSP are totally region free! So is the older DS.
Probably some sort of premium price to have the game a month early. We still don’t have the Wonderful 101, and won’t for another 3 weeks.
We got Game & Wario last, same with Pikmin 3, Super Luigi U, NSMB 2……. even the 3DS XL. The only thing we manage to get first is the home consoles and sometimes a game or 2 (rarely).

Downloading of music and movies has actually deceased a lot in the recent years. Since there’s Netflix and stuff which is much easier than downloading stuff and choking your hard drive with gigs.

I use my R4 for honest uses. DS games I own but no longer work, creating my own Homebrew games, and emulating lost or fried GBC, NES, and SNES games I own.

They’re handy devices, I think Nintendo should use em as a service to replace games that don’t work or are lost, like have a proof of purchase or something like that, and have em branded as a “Nintendo MultiConsole Replacement Cart” for like $5 per game and $20 for the card.

Yeah, I’m trying not to. I lost Super Mario Bros Deluxe and Oracle of Seasons to heat damage (lucky I still have Ages) so I couldnt really prevent those.

If it’s Piracy, they have full right to do this, but unauthorized software? Unconstitutional. A violation of American law. They might not like it, but it’s perfectly legal to hack a console as long as you don’t play pirated games on it. It’s legal to modify devices for home use, but you can’t sell them.
I do have a different view of Piracy but yeah, this needs to be ruled by a court that ruling moves like these are in fact, Unconstitutional.
Also Rin, I think people should also have rights to sell what they modded too, that would violate real property rights if they were not allowed.
If you want the latest games I suggest gamefly. I just got an e-mail of them sending in pikmin 3 so I’ll be renting that till I’m done then I’ll get splinter cell . This is the best way to play all the games you want if you like it then buy it at a discount that they give you.

I personality think this is a offensive move from Nintendo. Because this is an insult on real property rights, if I make something that mods or legally back up games for personal use, I think it’s a demand right. Piracy, well I still hold opinions for it too based on real science view instead of the bigotry views claiming “piracy” to be the issue.
I hope this website was shut down at least due to them probably selling ROMs, if not, then this is even a worse bad sign in our own Future.
Also, as sad this may sound, even though this is a Nintendo site where it’s often just Nintendo fans, I do think people on here are forgetting the important things about real property, and constitutional rights, for possible blinded movements like this.
