Nintendo Were Apparently So Angry Regarding Pokemon X Leak They Flew Someone Out To Get It Back

Pokemon_X_Pokemon_Y_logo

Earlier this week we reported that a small amount of copies of Pokemon X & Y were sold by a handful of shops in Canada and apparently Italy. Instagram user kosthedin had received a copy of the game and had been sharing images of it on his account. The game had been sold to kosthedin by a friend who worked at the store, However, Nintendo figured out where the copy of the game leaked from so they flew someone out to the store to reclaim the game. Kosthedin found out about this and decided to hand the game back so his friend could keep his job.

      1. Especially if People on reddit and this site keep posting the final evolutions of the starters. I already saw Fennekin’s, I dont want it to be the same with Froakie and Chespin.

    1. Surprise makes me come back for Nintendo’s games. I got some bits spoiled for me that I absolutely DID NOT want to see until I saw it in 3D with my own two eyes. I didn’t go clicking an article or anything. Someone posted the picture in the comment section on a non-leaked article. It’s people like that who ruin games, books, and movies. >:@

    2. Oh god, stop believing headlines.
This is standard procedure, only twelve year olds take “loltehyr so mad xD” seriously.

      1. Oh and also, stop posting fucking rumors.
Do you KNOW Nintendo flew out there and he isn’t just lying for attention? Do you have pictures of him getting “Nintendo’d” beyond the stupid sign?
Please do us all a favor and don’t turn into Kotaku 2.0
“GAMING NEWZ WHERE WE REPORT ON UNPROVEN THINGS”

  1. Honestly, if anyone made him return it, it was probably the store shitting itself over the fact that the friend leaked the game and made a Nintendo rep come to them.

    1. I heard (second hand on other website), that the guy returned it cause Nintendo put pressure on the store and he didn’t want to see his friend get fired.

I think the shipment went out too early.

        1. Yeah, they usually hit distribution centers a week or week and half in advance stores often get them like 3 days early at the most with big releases or at least they did back in the day. Oct 11th is still a bit away, so someone hit the button a bit early I think.

      1. People are just exaggerating this the most that could happen is that Nintendo just called the store and it was enough to make them poop in fear.

        1. Working in a gamestore when I was much younger, if something went horribly wrong the upper management would come down and pretty much threaten or fire anyone that was involved.

Since it was a very small store, Nintendo could threaten to stop shipment if they broke street date again. I remember Midway did that around the time of the second Mortal Kombat.

          1. Yea where I live it happened with killer instinct. The worst that happened was people being fire but being fire back then wasn’t has bad has now specialy if it was by doing something wrong in the store.

        2. Yeah, I know what you mean, if it didn’t make it in time or there was a shortage it might turn into riots. I went to a few events in NYC for Pokémon release lines were worse than iPhone releases out there.

        1. No, I mean ALL the Pokemon from previous generations. I read a rumor that aside from version exclusives you will be able to catch every single Pokemon without trading.

          1. I don’t think is possible with just one version but is possible between the 2 games by splitting all pokemons between the 2.

          2. wow, sounds like I could sell all my other Pokemon games then, mmhhh…maybe most of them or maybe not. Decisions, decisions

    1. Just about all retail games have street dates, NDA’s, and all this other legal stuff that goes along with them. It’s not always about spoiling a game or hiding surprises and secrets.

(although I’m sure there are some secrets just waiting to be revealed)

      1. I remember that some mall in the Pokemon game had gaming store… imagine that now the gaming store actually sold you playable version ingame of blue and red?

    2. They must have a lot of surprises in the game, for Nintendo to spend $ 2k – $ 3k to fly someone out to retrieve something that the gamer prolly got very far in!!
It doesn’t take long to get a final evo of the starter in any gen (up to gen 5 that we know of so far!!)
It will be interesting when we find out what the “1.7 gb” game has in store for us :)

  2. Oh nooooooes! You know how angry babies get when you take what they think is theirs. Give Nintendo back their Pokemon or else!!! We don’t want to see Nintendo being so angry.

There that’s better, now bring on more Mario and Pokemon games please. 3 Mario games on the Wii U in about a year isn’t enough. Babies need more!

But seriously, instead of taking away Pokemon games from little babies, what Nintendo should do is fly someone out to get all their failed Wii U underpowered consoles off the market.

    1. “little babies” eh?
well, these “little babies” outsold any console on the market now (referring to 3DS).
Wii U is indeed underpowered, but hey, Nintendo players prefer gameplay over graphics.

      1. Wiiu is not underpowered it is just not has strong has the ps4 and xbone but I’m starting to think it may be stronger than the bone.XD

      1. “what?” tu- tu- tu- tu- tu- tudu- tu- tu- tu- tu -THUUU- Du tu tu tu tu tu tu THUUU DU tu tu tu tu tu tu THUUUUUUU du tu tu tu tu- TATATAAAAA TATATATATATATATAAAAAAA…

    2. Damn grow up, it’s a video game, how the hell do you even know what video games are, Damn are you a guy ass girl, only gayyd asses play games and know about them

  3. What about all the guys save data will he get his copy back on October 12th you think or get a new copy.

    1. Dude is just exaggerating the most Nintendo could do was asking him to stop posting pictures and the head of the guy who sold it to him but cuz he was a good friend he returned the game so his friend could keep the job. The game was obtained legaly and after that he could do what ever he pleased except pirated.

      1. The game was sold illegally. The store receive the game early to stock up supply before delivering it to the sales floor, but any customer that receive the game early from the date stated, it is illegal.

        1. By legally I mean the monetary transaction not by the break of street date. The most Nintendo could do was to go againts the store not the buyer.

  4. I have seen manufacturer (in my industry) terminal dealers as resellers for leaking info. Actually have been blind copied on emails to those dealers for agreement violations. The employee here screwed up big. His company might let him go just for making them so bad.

  5. My gamestop always delivers my game a day before the actual release of a game I preordered. So I’m expecting my Pokemon X to be delivered on 11th. :P

        1. If you’re selling a used game, video etc., then yes,&even then it can be argued. Evaluating its condition&rarity, you’d probably be better off selling it online. U can buy used games online, too but run greater risks. I Wonder if Ninty’s happy abt. that?

  6. legally he didn’t have to return the game. HE BOUGHT IT, HE OWNS IT. The Store would have suffered from it. But while I was jealous of the guy getting it early I don’t think it is a big deal. Though for his friend to keep his job I can see why he did.

      1. YES. Nintendo, please get rid of these thieves on YouTube like AVGN, NOSTALGIA CRITIC, CGR, 3DSChannel and others that make reviews, tutorials and Let’s Play videos using your materials and make a profit out of it!

        YES TO PETA!
        No to thieves!

        1. So if you, with a team of minimal 100 game artists, spend 3 full years developing a game. You would find it no problem if I make profit of it by capturing videos of it?! I know i would…

  7. Nintendo better chill out cause everything leaks. I got stadium 2 like two weeks in advance and plenty others.

    1. Did u post the whole game online? Doubt it, because there wasn’t really an “online” back then lol. The problem was that the game was being spoiled for everyone and Nintendo was keeping secrets for a reason.

At least we saw the final form of Fenneken lol!!! And much to everyone’s surprise it looks NOTHING like anyone else though it would be.

      1. Yea I doubt it was just one game that was sold before the street date but the others where not so retards do post videos on the web.

    1. Having a world wide release wasn’t the problem, it wasn’t “too tough to manage” if that is what you are implying. It is just a lack of stores following STRICT release dates. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo sues and collects for damages faced by the leakers.

      1. It’s not like they’re not gonna get ‘the moneyz’ if they sold the games following the release date.

  8. Wow…Imagine the surprise of the guy with the game lol!!! So will they fly back over and give it back?

  9. Back in the N64 day’s the funcoland [aka] gamestop I go to had a full demo copy of the first Banjo Kazooie game and one of the new sales clerk’s was dumb enough to sell me 2 week’s before it came out.He though it was just a used copy of the game and I even paid the used price. But if he would have even looked at it at all it said property of nintendo and not for sale 3 different places on it.I was even burnt in to the plastic. The head manager new it was me who got it because I traded some games in to get it and called demanding I return it.I said I would but didn’t. I was just to much damn fun to play!Making him hate me for a few year’s.But I ended up working for him after It all blew over.I think he was more angry because he got to kept store demo’s for him self and he wasn’t getting that one. This was also before the internet not that I would have been dumb enough to brag and put up spoilers like this jackass.Plus the new clerk kept his job so it was all good in the end.

    1. Weren’t they known as EB Games then…?

And I think the bigger jackasses are the pansy dweebs who let “spoilers” ruin their experience. Not just that, but those who clicked on the leaked images have no room to complain.

  11. What’s gonna to be spoiled? That you fight 8 gym leaders to collect 8 badges while fighting an evil orginization & catching Pokemons like you have a compulsive hoarding disorder to fight an Elite Four all over again?

  12. SPOILER ALERT:

Pokemon X&Y is not full stereoscopic 3D but costs the same price as any other new 3DS game that is!

  13. Nintendough: OH NO they’re gonna find out that X and Y’s only has 51 “new” Pokemon in total, & most of those numbers are just made up of babies and Mega useless 1-use evo fillers of Pokemon from old gens! Pull ’em back now!

  14. First off, guys, it’s not just the Big ‘N’ who take this seriously. Years ago when I worked at GameCrazy, when Rockstar was planning on release the latest GTA. We had a clerk named Kris who thought he’d be cool if he sold some early copies to his friends before release date.

His excuse was the game did not officially have a ‘street date,’ and he was allegedly told the copies could be immediately be sold upon receiving them (more like ‘My Momma owns the property of this store and I can do whatever the hell I want.). And even snubbed us when we warned him not to do that.

As a result, not only did Rockstar find out, but fined our company some MAJOR penalty fees, and pulled the remaining copies from the store. Naturally, Kris thought this was funny until our manager had him suspended for three weeks, under orders by our DM. And not even his precious uncle could help him out of this one.

In fact, we couldn’t sell any Rockstar related games for six months because of what he did, so yeah, some companies OTHER than Nintendo do take this rather seriously.

  15. Nintendo has been pumping quite some resources into making sure this game will release world-wide at the same day. The are trying their best to give everyone that feeling of exploration, without everything already written out on the web. I kinda understand their quick response.

  16. so he got the game early. fair enough, but why are people so dumb to post stuff on the internet before release. do they need that in order to feel cool? if the kid would’ve been smart he would have taken his time, make a great lets play and then post it early. people should respect the work of the game devs/artists more.

  17. Keep this a secret!! I bought Pokemon X from Dubai in U.A.E. ( United Arab Emirates ). It’s from a store called game street. I really like that store because I bought mario and luigi one month earlier and luigi’s mansion five days earlier. That store is awesome!!

  18. It’s only a leak when some dumbass decides to spread it out in the open.

Everyone likes to show the fuck off all the time; no secret remains precious apparently.
