Eurogamer Says The Wii U Is The Best Choice This Christmas

wii_party_u_wii_u_bundle

Online gaming publication Eurogamer has joined EDGE magazine in saying that the Wii U is the best choice of console this Christmas. The publication points to Super Mario 3D World as a prime reason to own the struggling console along with The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and Pikmin 3. Whether these opinion pieces will be enough to change the fortunes of the failing console once the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch remains to be seen. Still, it’s certainly nice to have some good coverage for once.

Inject a little Tokyo EAD magic into that back catalogue and it’s hard to deny that the Wii U’s line-up eclipses those of the Xbox One and PS4 – and so it should after its lengthy headstart. Is it enough to turn the tide, though? That’s a harder ask, but there are at least signs that Nintendo’s beginning to push the console in the right direction.

          1. Wasn’t the only exclusive that got delayed was Donkey Kong?

Wasn’t that also the game that people were “disappointed” in at E3 because it wasn’t Metroid?

            Or am I missing something?

      1. Stop pretending to be like a troll, you are not a troll, in fact you are so bad in doing that, that Marisa wants to find you and kick your ass and send you back to Gensokyo. :)

      2. FUCKYOUDISNEYANDYOURMONOPOLY

I agree with the article, currently Xone and PS4 have no games that will make me drop money on them at launch.

        1. OH MY GOD……… your name, I thought I was the only person who felt that way about Disney. (sorry off topic)

  1. Cool, i hope more sites does this. Personally, Knack is the only interessting PS4/Xbone title, and I’m not getting a new console for one title. I’m tired of those boring shoters…

      1. I’ll check it out!
Totally agree! With Mario 3D World, Wii Party U, Nintendo Land, maybe even NSMBU and Wii Karaoke U, this is going to be a GREAT Christmas with friends and family. I also downloaded Spin the Bottle. I haven’t tried it yet, but going to grab some friends and something to drink, and will probably have a blast!

    1. The launch window (that 6 months to a year following release day) will look good as a whole, but the launch itself is rarely impressive (Genesis, Saturn, and maybe Wii had good launch titles).

Like you’ll have a handful (3 or 4) good games then a Genesisload amount of sports titles courtesy of EA, one of two racing titles, (nowanddays) a shooter, a dance game, that one time platformer with a character you’ll never see again or that they will try to put over for a while (Crash Bandicoot whom they will not let die) and the odd game that doesn’t belong anywhere (gameshow game no one asked for or something).

…Crash should’ve been put out to pasture and Tomba should’ve been Sony’s mascot. That said I did like the early PlayStation commercials with Crash.

  2. Pssssh yaa right…Nintendo can’t even stand a chance during Christmas… I love the Wii U but Nintendo has to make some hardcore gaming systems

    1. The 3DS and everybody that has jumped onto the Super Mario 3D World bandwagon after seeing it’s gloriousness want to have a word with you :).

      1. Well that’s handheld. Nintendo can’t fail with handhelds. Even with the launch roster not being particularly impressive (it was adequate) I got my 3DS out the gate out of 1a. never being disappointed by a Nintendo handheld, 1b. RPGS!!! Nintendo has been dragging ass on RPGs since Nintendo 64, but have delivered since Gameboy, 2. guaranteed Pokemon is guaranteed, 3. high chance of a Final Fantasy Tactics game, 4. high chance of a Dragon Quest Monsters game…

And most importantly: 5. oh hai random Monster Rancher game, you beautiful beast you

  3. Wii U is still the best choice for a second gaming system, the first one being the PC.
People will probably buy the PS4 or, the dumbest, an Xbone, but it will be just like the other gen after a while : Sony and Microsoft players happy when they get an exclusive and Nintendo players having a library full of Nintendo exclusives…
I wonder when people will understand that…

  4. Of course it is. Mario and Donkey Kong aren’t the best ever, and a simple remake is lazy as shit, but they’re way better than the abysmal, shit-taste attracting launch line-ups of the Spybox and PS4.

    1. I’m infuriated by your comment.

That’s the way this goes, right? You troll, the internet gets mad, blah blah.
So yeah- now its your turn!

      1. im not here to troll. im just saying this would be the decision, edge is right. who wants santas balls jingling in your face all year instead of having a slightly relevant videogame console?? this is what the article is about isnt it??

    2. As I and the Nintendo commander stated numerous times before, the WiiU shall be the surprise console. Only console giving you guys 1080P-60fps, 720P-60fps, 1080-30fps locked games consistently.

      1. your brainwashed, you dont know how dumb you sound right?? ps4 and xbox one could run anything on wii u 1080p 60fps, but could wii u run some of the games ps4 and xbox obe run at 1080p and 60fps down the road?? exactly. peace out motha fuckas!!

    3. Dude why are you thinking about Santa’s balls jingling all in your face? You trying to tell us your sexual fantasies or what you deranged asswipe? LOL!!!

    1. Nintendo Nexus: successor to the Wii U! You heard it here first!

That actually would’ve been better than calling it ‘Wii U’.

      To: The Boy
I’m getting the Nokia Lumia 920 (the Lumia 1020’s still a bit pricey for me).

      1. Nexus would’ve sounded better, no doubt. Idk planning on getting the note 3 or nexus 5 when or if it comes out. I heard the lumia has a good camera though.

  5. i love gaming on 3ds and wiiu. they are by far my most used systems atm. if there would be the evil within, destiny and dark souls 2 on wiiu it would be a perfect world.maybe i will buy into steambox later as an addition to the nintendo systems. i haven’t turned on my ps360 for a month or so. i have xone and ps4 on preorder but i really don’t like any of their launch titles :(

  6. it is the cheapest of the three and some good games are coming out so maybe it’s the better choice for this holiday.

  7. DIDNT RELIZE I WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE ADVICE FROM BIASED OUT OF TOUCH WEB SITES OH WELL

LOL @ ANTI NINTENDO ANTI WII REMOTE ANTI NEXT GEN GENERIC CONSOLE LOVING EUROGAMER

    TELLING US THE FUCKING OBVIOUS

  8. It’s like I have said before to those trolls, New consoles this generations are having though launches. Wii U had a though launch, then the other two will also have. Nobody wants to leave the past generation. With the delay of Watch_dogs and the Crew to spring, Xbox one and PS4 will have a bad time during holiday season (for some reason, I find myself laughing at the trolls who laughed at Wii U during launch). My brother is now skeptical about buying the PS4.

  9. eurogamer staing the obvious because like any nintendo hater they know its unstoppable and dont want to look DERP SHIT when it happens

  10. Just to say the comment section of MNN is much better without the stupid trolls! It’s ok to hate nintendo sometimes, but with good arguments! Thanks Sickr

    1. Yeah! Thanks Sickr. I was lurking on this site for the longest time and not commenting or engaging because of all the annoying, immature trolls. Now that there’s some form of order on this site, I find myself visiting more often and participating. Soooo, yeah. Thanks again.

  11. I’m interested in writing my own music, and have a working knowledge of the basics in terms of sheet music and the like. But what I need is a computer program that will allow me to create music without relying on using a MIDI keyboard. While I’d love to have access to electronic instruments like that, my computer space is already cramped and there’s just no room for it. Freeware is always nice, but I’m willing to spend some cash if I have to..
