Project CARS Dev Says Wii U Version Is Looking Extremely Promising

Andy Tudor, the Creative Developer of Project CARS, has reiterated that the Wii U version of the game is looking extremely promising. Tudor mentioned that the team had got the rain effects working on the platform, which he claims in the most graphically intense weather setting in the game.

“I literally just had a blast racing around one of our tracks in the rain (the most graphically-intensive weather setting) and it held up pretty damn well. Of course there are optimisations still to be done but side-by-side, the Wii U version we have running in the studio is extremely promising.”

    1. EVERYOEN DO THE FOLLOWING TOO! 1. Buy the game on day 1
      2. Spread the word about this game.

we must support this guy then more 3rd parties will bother lol. sega ubisoft ect do games on wii u but its not all of them. we need ea for example!

      1. You make Nintendo seem desperate!Count me out because it’s wrong to just spread random words about a game that many people probably won’t buy. Besides, people might think the game sucks but you still want them to give the game a great rating just so Nintendo can get more third party developers working for them? LMAO you sound like you will suck Nintendo’s cock just to get their console selling.

        1. How do you expect the Wiiu and Nintendo to do better if you aren’t open to stuff like that? Exactly what are they supposed to do?

  1. Support this game guys, whether you have a Wii U or not, Advertise this game for Nintendo. Spread the word to friends, fellow gamers, other media sites.

Get this game’s name out for the Wii U

        1. Glad that I saw this because then I’m definitely not getting that game. How can you not have local multiplayer for a game like that? That’s terrible! Online multiplayer is awesome, but no excuse to cut out local

          1. Local multiplayer on a intensive game usually sucks. CUtting the screen in half and trying to maintain performance? Give me a full online multiplayer and that’s what I will enjoy.

            1. Give me local over online anyday. I usually play with friends in RL as opposed to going online. Much harder to do that through online and not as fun. I like being in the same room as the competition so that we can crack jokes and smiles

              1. Sadly this game will not have local player split screen (in any version). This is due to the advanced physics engine being used and the visuals. Only really high end PC (good CPU) would be able to support 2 simulations of this physics engine at the same time. All three next generation consoles have fairly weak processors in comparison to a modern high end PC. This is not your basic arcade racer this is a very advanced simulator using a very computational physics engine working out different components of the car and the soft body physics of the tyres in contact with the road surface.

                1. And this is why people continue to mock the new consoles. Sacrificing such a key mode just for the sake of graphics is unacceptable if they cannot get enough power to use it for both players. That’s just a really bad decision if you ask me

                  1. Its not to do with graphics its to do with the physics engine. GT and Forza may say they are simulators but they really aren’t where as PC simulators and Pcars use much more advanced physics engines which need more processing power. Graphics has nothing to do with physics.

    1. I really don’t see a problem with that. The only reason the Wii U version is such a big deal is because it’s not selling well. It’s an amazing console…. you really wouldn’t regret the purchase if you were to get one. But! These guys are working hard on this game and regardless of the console you choose, supporting a developer that still wants to put real effort into their games is a good thing.

      Also, I want a PS4 dammit.

    1. Yes the developers keep bragging about how great the game looks and runs, yet they have no confidence to show us what actual console game play looks like!! LMAO! if the wii u version looks and runs so good then why no footage of proper in engine game play? come to think of it any console footage would be good, instead all we get is lots of bragging and pc game play likely running on high end hard ware and so realistically it wont look nowhere as good on console!

Off the bat the fact its native 720p only on wii u and only 30fps means it pretty much garbage compared to any forza game on 360 or any Gran turismo game on PS3, a sim racer just has to be 60fps!!

      1. They have only been showing the pc version on high you hater, they haven’t shown any other version

You know nothing, just because they haven’t showed it doesn’t mean it doesn’t look good

      2. A sim racer has to be 60 FPS? I agree that 60 FPS is great and all, but as someone that grew up with playing racing games on the PS1 I have to say, 30 is perfectly acceptable.

      3. The devs keep bragging about it, yes. I suspect they aren’t showing it because it is not finished yet. They want to blow us away. They haven’t shown the XBONE or PS4 yet either.

“Off the bat the fact its native 720p only on wii u and only 30fps”
What’s your source for that little tid bit of information? Interesting.

  2. did u also know if u get a game bundlw wii u youll automatically earn 5$ credit for the the game after u download it theres a site u log into to claim your free credit code for every 500 points u earn u can redeem for 5$ codes they are doing this up till December 2014 and works on all eshop purchases on wii u wish it was for 3ds games u buy as well :( but the credit can now be used on 3ds as well thanks to the update :) have almost enough points for another 5$ credit :)

  3. https://p.nintendo.net/index.html this is the site u sign into if u didn’t know yet just sign in with your Nintendo network id and password and all the games u bought from the eshop will have accumulated points 10% so if u bought a game for 10$ u get 100 points equals 1$ so save 500 and redeem for 5$ credit on eshop.

  4. I’m picking this up on Wii U. If I love it to death I’ll pick it up on the PS4 once I splash out on one. Looks extremely promising.

  5. I don’t even like racing games but I’ll buy this game just because of how hard their working to make the Wii U version as great as possible. You don’t see any of these 3rd parties making such an effort as this so cudos to them for believing in Nintendo. I just hope you guys put your money where your mouth is and buy the game day 1

    1. That’s what people said about developers that made games for the 3DS when it was brand new. Would you say that they were right?

  6. Excellent. This developer appears to have put a lot of time into the game!!!

This is going to be a buy from me.

  7. Really hope they’ve made full advantage of the hardware inside the console to make it look good. If they have done, then other 3rd party have got no excuse anymore.

  8. IF ONLY MORE 3rD PARTIES TRIED AS HARD AS THEY DO!¬!!!! hopefully 3rd parties will see the success of this and move to wii u also if they haven’t already!

  9. Getting this game! :D 3rd party support on Wii U AND it’s a game that was built from the ground up on Wii U and not some stupid port lacking extra modes from other versions of the game.

Slightly Mad Studios may be mad, but they are the most intelligent 3rd party dev I know of right now.

    1. They are taking their time with it too. Using the console’s strength. Making optimizations and making sure the game is perfect.

  10. Thank you for doing your best on the wiiU version(and others too), its this kind of developers that Nintendo needs, and not lazy ones that only do ports and complain the game doesnt sell. I will buy Project C.A.R.S for wiiU to support this awesome (and rare) type of developer.

        1. Nope. Wii U gamepad FTW! Imagine the possibilities! I remember they said they wanted to make heavy use of the gamepad too… Sounds interesting to me!

    1. it wil surely be great once its finished.any game can be promising but not all are great. meh this will be awesome its project cars!

    1. Not only that, he is basically saying that the Wii U handles some of the most graphically intense parts of the game without breaking a sweat BEFORE being optimized.

It’s amazing how far you can go when you simply follow directions.

      1. Absolutely. Different hardware altogether. If programmed for correctly, then the results will be amazing. Just look at 3D World for another example. Not only does it play really well, but it’s also pure eye candy. There were some levels, and my mind was literally blown open. Super glossy and very high in detail.

And here’s people people thinking the console is weak. Hark to that!!!!

  13. And i bet nintendo wont even help promote this like on twitter or facebook. Nintendo has to step it up. This game looks beautiful

  14. Also, 720p isn’t going to look good on 1080p monitor. GTA V wasn’t bad but I could see the blurriness.. Hopefully it’s full 720 & not 880×720 like COD.

    1. the resolution it will run at on wii u hasn’t even been revealed yet however the devs stated that achieving 1080p is one of their goals

        1. you fuck off, that information is almost one year old and project cars was still early in development and at a time when they still tried to cater to xbox360/ps3
this wasn’t much more than an estimate
that was then, this is now

          fucking mook

  15. I got to say these guys make it extremely hard not to buy their game, even though I really dont like realistic racers o_O THIS is how you do marketing guys! Not ignoring the existence of a game on Nintendo platforms *CoDwink*

    1. Yeah i know what you mean. Its annoyin to see cod ad´s without mention of WiiU version. Activision can blame themselfs for Cod not sellin on Nintendo system. I believe this game on the other hand will actually sell well on Nintendo since they promote it.

  16. Im gonna get this for WiiU!! This game sounds promising and it proves that all those idiots who think that WiiU isnt powerful are idiots. WiiU FTW!!

      1. Pretty powerful is the answer to that. In some cases more than X1 and PS4.

We just needed a developer to go into the hardware.

  17. i really wonna see some videos or just one from the u version.
he always talks howe great this game would be… and the when its out, its just another crap game and looks more bad than the ps3 version

  19. I hope this game finds great success on every platform that it’s released on. I also hope it does well on the Wii U. Let’s support this wonderful ge and its developers, people. This is a game made with love for the Wii U. A rarity indeed. Awwww. Haha
