Pennzoil, the American oil company, has announced on Twitter that it has teamed up with Nintendo to promote Mario Kart 8 for Wii U. The company teased that there will be a live demo of Mario Kart 8 at this year’s SXSW event.

They haven’t advertised at all until now. MK8 and, arguably, Smash are their last hope, and MK reaches casuals more than Smash. They NEED to go all-out with this.

I agree that it is pretty contradictory. I’m currently working on assignments related to oil that focuses on BP. (One of the biggest oil companies) Oil is definitely wrecking this planet and destroying the environment. It’s a little sad to see Nintendo join in. I wonder what Xbox’s stance on oil is…

I love how pissed off Mario has been looking lately. It gives Mario Kart 8 a somewhat more edgy feel. Even the game’s logo looks more aggressive. Idk. It’s cool though. Anyway, I Hope they keep advertising the fuck out of it. I think Nintendo knows that Mario Kart 8 will either make or break the Wii U, which is why they seem to be going all-out with the hype building.
