Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Wii U Tech Demo Not Planned To Become Actual Game

Nintendo has revealed that it doesn’t plan to make the Mario vs. Donkey Kong GDC tech demo into an actual game. The tech demo was displayed at the gaming conference to showcase the Nintendo Web Framework, a development environment based on WebKit technologies, supporting application development on Wii U using HTML5, JavaScript and CSS. It also supports the Wii U GamePad, Wii Remote and JavaScript extensions.

      1. If any thing this is a shot at Sony, not Nintendo, keep in mind Nintendo has enough money to ride all the way to 2070. Sony is billions in debt and shrinking all the time

    1. I wouldn’t mind it being one of those “Dr. Lewuigi” type games ware its like 15$ and its focused as a online game.
it would be really cool to see a simple yet addictive online mode 4/4.

and then a slightly different 5 local player which has 5th player trying to sabotage the other 4 players from getting their minies to the gate.

and then a simple single player or something (maybe a pay as you go level pack style game

but I think it’s his is a sign that they are working on T and M rated games (eternal darkness, Zelda, metroid, Xeno, star fox, and new ip

  1. This is gunna be Nintendo’s big E3 reveal therefore pushing back any showcase of Zelda U till E3 of 2015 for a spring 2016 release. Iwata will then declare 2015 as the year of “Please Understand”……

      1. Lets hope you’re right, because right now I have nothing to look forward to on my Wii U besides mk8 and ssb. And don’t say X and bayonette bacause I probably wont buy those since there not really my type. Not to mention that the 3ds seems to get ALL the games versus the Wii U, from 3rd and 1st parties. E3 better be awesome or at least announce what’s happening to Wii U, so I can go on and trade it in for a couple od 3ds games. Wii U has SO much potential Nintendo is just not doing it right.

          1. :/ commander, i told you not to believe any gamepad comments, the gamepad is actually great an a lot of fun. Don’t listen to inferior life forms soldier.

            1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

It’s my own opinion since a long time now…

I’m sure the Gamepad is fun but it’s not equivalent to the uselessness applied to games and its cost…

I want more than just maps and HUD on it…

              From our empire that is…

              1. Hurry up and trade it in Ninetales! Be sure not to buy X, the JRPG of the generation, and Bayo, the action game of the generation. Lets all go back to our bro shooters and ignore all of these IPs we never had.

          1. They’ll be very well worth it – when they come out. All I’m saying is that I should’ve waited a long while before buying the Wii U, so that it would have more games (which it’s picking up the progress) I could have waited and saved a lot of money (bundles) that could have been applied to 3ds games instead. I do enjoy my Wii U playing Infinity here and there, (finished everything else) but I’m waiting for the next big title, like mk8, to start really playing again. May get MH.

    1. Yeah right and i will go on a moon keep dreaming you fanboys always dreaming before your Nintendo to released their overpriced console when it was cafe i still remember some comments then that it’s gonna be powerful as high end PC some fanboys was saying that will destroy the new Sony and Microsoft consoles here something of Nintendo lies http://www.ign.com/articles/2011/04/21/project-cafe-the-tech-behind-nintendos-next-console

      http://www.nintengen.com/2011/04/wii-2-project-cafe-more-powerful-than.html

Like one guy said few years ago on IGN Nintendo will be behind Sony and Microsoft again with online graphic and games and Nintendo fanboys will play again games once in the year

  2. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

Considering Mario 128 was also a Demo and we got Sunshine instead, I’m sure we will get something just as good or better for the Wii U concerning a 3D Mario…

    Nintendomination imminent…

        1. Nintendo is my Blood

So we hit a bit of a snafu, Nintendo broke the chain, big woop, but once Mario Kart 8 and SSB drops, I will save a blue turtle shell just for you

t’will be my final smash if you catch my drift …

        2. No no, that was a temporary domination of a lesser sort of domination…
This is a major source of dominating dominating domination….
          Please Understand…. 2014….. Year of Nintendo…..
          Yeah…. Commander…. I’m…. mocking…. how you speak….

          Yes…..

            1. I never fail…
              I merely start over…
But I’m all out of lives now so, I guess I can’t do that… right now…
              Ohh….

    1. The difference being those wore game idea demos, and this is a demo to show off how easy you can develop for the system.

its not that I wouldn’t mind this being a game (if done right)
I just really done see it happening (maybe a 15$ game)

  3. At the end of the day it was only just to show the technology and the capabilities of the console.

Hopefully they will be able to use it time and time agar and maybe even develop that even further.

    Things evolve every day.

    1. I like Sony as much as you do, but they are going to go under bro. What investors are willing to burn money when 90% of Sony is failing? The PS brand is their only surviving brand and it will keep them on life support. Of course they are in debt. A lot of debt actually. Cutting workers, selling buildings. You name it. They are selling off all of their assets to survive. I’m sorry for your loss but they are unfortunately doomed.

Nintendo is loaded. And I mean loaded. People are buying their products so that’s a wrong assumption that they aren’t. The Wii brand isn’t strong but the Nintendo brand is. And despite the fact that the Wii brand isn’t strong the Wii U has already sold 6 million units with little to no marketing. And their best-selling IP’s have yet to hit the system.

Why would you bring up the Dreamcast and the Atari? Sega and Atari aren’t even producing hardware anymore, but Nintendo still is. That’s like saying no one remembers PS1 or Xbox which would mean the PS and Xbox brands have no history. That’s funny you would say that because all I ever hear is drones bashing on Nintendo for relying on nostalgia. Well the average Joe also wants games to play. When Infamous 3 scores lower than Super Mario 3D World that says a ton about the lack of quality in their games.

So when the Wii outsells PS3 by 20 million, sales don’t matter, but as soon as the Wii U is passed, all of a sudden Nintendo is irrelevant? Hypocrites.

Sony isn’t choosing to shrink. They have no choice but to. No company wants to shrink. They want to expand. The amount of money they lost on the PS3 is definitely staggering. Despite the PS being their only decent brand they could still make mistakes like they did with the PS3.

We literally have no details on QOL so that’s up to speculation.

Sony entering the virtual reality market can be hit or miss. I personally don’t think that it’s appealing or comfortable to strap something to my face and spin my head around. But hey, that’s just my opinion.

Funny how you would say Sony has good ideas when they steal all of them and yet they are still bleeding. But that’s the end of it. That’s how that world works.

  4. I’m honestly starting to lose faith now. I picked up the Wii U when it first came out despite the fact that I knew they were gonna come out with PS4 and stuff next year. I got it anyway instead. And then… a whole year worth of drought. It’s taken what, a year and a half to get actual good games? The good stuff is coming but we will be missing out on basically an entire year worth of new 3rd party games. I want a PS4 too. And if the Wii U does not shape up after Mario Kart 8 and stuff, I’m going straight to PS…

    1. Get an Xbox, Sony is going under, they just sold their PC business and screwed over any one who just bought a PC from then. They only own 50% of their tv business, they had to sell all their major buildings….their going under, it may take 6 years, but Nintendo and Microsoft are at least in the plus, and Nintendo and Microsoft also have the money to support big games, Sony needs 3rd party to even stay afloat, and no one bought back lol

      1. Sony is not going to go under. They will always have investors who are willing to put money into their succesful wings of business. the PS brand is one of their strongest brands, and it will keep them alive, even if they have to rearrange to such a degree, that it will be all that’s left of them. Yes they are in debt, but they are also handling that right now, something you mistake for their doom.

Nintendo might have money in the bank, but when nobody wants to buy their stuff, they will be a name long forgotten in a decade or so. There’s literally no kids today that knows what a Dreamcast is, let alone what Sega did before that. Atari is a distant memory, and everything before that is dust in the wind. Only people with passion for gaming digs into its history, the average consumer just buys off of the shelf, and if Sony is dominating the shelves, which they are, they will come out the strongest in the eyes of the consumer.

Irrelevance is far worse than anything else, the Wii proofs that, since it became irrelevant during it’s last couple of years, and the transition to Wii U… well we all know how that’s doing at the moment..

Sony is a larger company than Nintendo, but as you said in one of your earlier messages “they are shrinking”, and isn’t that their best option? The amount of money they lost on the PS3 is staggering, yet they did pull a lot of it home, and even turned the wagon around; i mean that machine is still going strong unlike Xbox 360 and Wii U – still recieving a boatload of third party games from the west AND east.

Yes Nintendo can ride it out, but with incompetent management, can they turn it around? QOL is obviously a sign of unwillingness to compete, which i personally think will be the end of it, especially since Iwata can clearly say what the hell they are planning to do.

Sony just entered the virtual reality market, and did so with great ferocity. Nintendo has shown us cardboard signs of QOL, with no direct message.

If you want people to believe you, if you want money from investors, you need a good idea and the ability to present it well. Sony does this, Nintendo doesn’t. That’s the end of it. That’s how that world works.

        1. A scathing report on corruption at the company that built China’s $59-billion Three Gorges dam, the world’s biggest hydropower scheme, has reignited public anger over a project funded through a special levy paid by all citizens.

The report by the ruling Communist Party’s anti-graft watchdog last week found that some officials at the Three Gorges Corporation, set up in 1993 to run the scheme, were guilty of nepotism, shady property deals and dodgy bidding procedures.

Between 1992 and 2009, all citizens had to pay a levy built into power prices across China to channel money to the dam’s construction, a project overshadowed by compulsory relocations of residents and environmental concerns.

“The relatives and friends of some leaders interfered with construction projects, certain bidding was conducted secretly … and some leaders illicitly occupied multiple apartments,” the graft watchdog said on its website(www.ccdi.gov.cn).

The Three Gorges Corporation published a statement on its website on Tuesday saying it would look into the issues the probe raised, and strictly punish any corrupt conduct and violations of the law and party discipline.

The accusations – made as part of President Xi Jinping’s crackdown on deep-rooted corruption – have spread rapidly across China’s popular Twitter-like service Sina Weibo, and some of China’s more outspoken newspapers have weighed in too.

Time-Weekly, a newspaper based in southern China’s Guangzhou city, this week revealed further details of the graft.

In one case, the newspaper reported, a company bidding for a construction project related to the dam area was told to pay a bribe of one million yuan ($163,200) by members of the hydropower giant’s bidding evaluation panel.

“Because of its fully state-owned background … it was given special ‘protection’, and for years was practically free of supervision and regulations,” the newspaper wrote.

The Southern Metropolitan Daily called in an editorial for the full weight of the law to be applied to a firm that has sucked up so many national resources.

“The entire strength of China converged on building this one massive project,” it wrote. “Enormous sums went into it, great powers were bestowed. But the oversight over these powers which should have been there, was not.”

On Weibo, the topic ranks among the most widely discussed subjects.

“Did the Three Gorges fund paid by us all on every electricity bill actually go to feed dogs?” wrote one user.

“Why did the Three Gorges Corporation, fed and nurtured by us all, become an ‘unifilal son’?” asked another user.

This is not the first time the company – and the project – have come in for criticism.

Late last year, soon after the party sent its graft inspection team into the Three Gorges Corporation, a senior official involved in “follow-up” work on the dam was fired for “suspected serious disciplinary violations”, the usual euphemism for corruption.

In 2011, then-premier Wen Jiabao presided over a government meeting on the dam which said that though the scheme did provide benefits, it had created a myriad of urgent problems, from the relocation of more than a million residents to risks of geological disasters.

And back in 2000, six years before the project was complete, authorities busted a ring of officials who siphoned off hundreds of millions of yuan in resettlement funds.

            1. Here is the real truth liar Sony sold 6M PS4s for few months much more than your Wii U sold for more than year http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2014/03/04/ps4-sales-top-6-million-worldwide/ one other truth here what PS4 and XONE can do

              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4j5xxi6cjjU

              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlkAVKsEj80

And here what your Wii U can do i can’t believe this is from 2014

              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5Uktlni4bg

What happen you don’t like the truth

        2. I completely agree with you 100%. I am a Nintendo fan first but always liked Sony as well and I can honestly say since 2011 ive enjoyed my Playstation products more including PS4. But i wish I could say the opposite and it be Nintendo since i have a soft spot for them in my gaming heart. Nintendo is simply just not the same anymore and I could understand more if they were at least putting up a fight but they just “tuck tail” like a poodle in fear covering its genitalia and going the other direction its really sad to see this….

          1. Cool story bro but did you know that Sony is bleeding money as we speak? They will have to sell the PS brand to survive at this point.

            1. Even then, the Ps4 maybe selling like hotcakes but not at a fast enough rate to make up the debt, they will be the first to be forgotten. It be so much better if Mircoshit was that instead.

        3. When Sony is in the shitter: Makes comments that that they can improve with LEGIT explanations on how. Other words, makes up bullshit.

Knows Nintendo has loads of money to ride is out: Denies the fact that they have other products that sell millions and leaves out many other important information because he know it will make his entire argument invalid. Other words, more bullshit.

Overall comment critique: Is your ass jealous of the amount of shit that comes out of your mouth?

  5. You are what you eat and fats are a staple for Asia’s fast-food generation. Dr Chwang Leh Chi, director of the Department of Food Nutrition at Taipei’s Veterans’ Hospital, says children and teenagers are consuming more meat and soft drinks. That is a radical departure from the traditional diet of vegetables and rice and little meat. “They like big pieces of fried meat with a soft drink. So although they may eat the same volume of food, their calorie intake has increased. Now about 40 to 45 per cent of their calories come from fat,” says Chwang.

Culture – namely Asians’ expansive hospitality – is a conspirator towards the greater girth of today’s generation, according to Chwang. “Chinese people love food,” she says. “Eating and drinking are important social and family functions.”

In the past, however, big feasts were only hosted on special occasions as people were more careful with money. ln today’s climate of affluence and conspicuous consumption, ten-course banquets are no longer reserved for festive occasions.

The law of inertia best describes the physical condition of most overweight children. Dr Masahiki Ohuni of Nihon University, who conducted a 1995 study on the fitness level of Japanese children says: “Even more than we have imagined, a clear relationship has emerged between obesity and indoor play. I think it’s a double-edged sword — children get fat because they don’t move, and eventually, they don’t want to move because they’re fat.”

Thanks to technology, there is a growing army of five-year-old mouseketeers who prefer point-and-click games to old-fashioned hide- and-seek. “Whatever happened to hopscotch, blind man’s buff and tag?” asks Vicki See, a Hong Kong mother of two girls. “My daughters spend their time either watching TV or sitting in front of the computer playing video games, CD-ROMs and the lnternet.”

Kindergarten teacher Margaret Lai attributes the lack of interest in outdoor sports and exercise to Hong Kong’s high-rise living and congested streets. Lai points out that many parents are happy to have their children stay at home and watch TV for safety reasons. “And what do children do when they watch TV? Snack on chips, chocolate and popcorn.” Once captive in front of the television, they are bombarded with commercials that aid and support the fat problem. More than 40 per cent of commercials on prime-time Taiwanese TV are for food products, says Chwang.

Bangkok university lecturer Suwanna Sathaanand laments that today’s modern lifestyle does not equate with a better quality of life. He points out that there are more shopping malls than parks in Bangkok, and city pollution diminishes the appeal of sports and outdoor activities. “There is no place in Bangkok where children can have healthy activities without spending money,” he says.

  6. good. those clowns need to focus on making new games, not dried out, played out crap that only 5 people play.

    1. We need all of Nintendo’s IPs, revitalized and reimagined. We need brands optimized and completely redone, albeit with the same familiarity. If Nintendo is to change, their games need to start.

  7. The same shit happen with that tech demo of zelda that game looked amazing I hate it when Nintendo come up good ideas than than say they are only tech demos
