    1. They never clarified if DLC won’t be coming at some point down the line. As long as it’s quality stuff with multiple tracks, I don’t think people have a right to complain if it’s released. If it’s free, even better.

    2. Propee DLC for this game can help both it and Wii U for a long run as well. :) Nintendo should start considering about taking advantage of that.

  1. Wow. Lots of babies in this game. They’re all so freaking adorable. I’d like to see a main Mario game now including all of them. XD

    1. You wanna know another baby who’s not adorable or fitting in this wholw thing?

Sasori. lol What a delusional, Brokeback loser.

Funny enough, he is in. As mii with annoying high pitch voice from MK7, lol.

  2. I guess that’s what happens when you optimise code properly.

That;s smaller than what I thought it would be considering how many characters, tracks and karts are in it.

      1. Well the textures need to be coded in somehow surely. I mean it’s not like they’re just magically there.

        1. they’re mapped to surfaces.. but it doesn’t matter how you do that their size stays the same

in order to reduce size you’ll need to compress them or reduce resolution

            1. considering there’s only 32 courses and a similar number of drivers you really don’t need that many textures

        2. Sure, the textures are referenced somewhere in the code. But what Kehool was trying to say was that the code itself isn’t what actually takes up most of the disc’s spaces. The actual code is probably among the smallest things on the disc. What takes up most of the space are assets. Models, textures, animations, music, sound, maps etc. There isn’t really much you can do in code to reduce the size of these assets. The only thing you CAN do is to compress the assets, which the game probably did, but that doesn’t happen in the code. All the code ever really does with the assets is to load them into memory and use them in the game, but it doesn’t really matter how good the code is, it doesn’t affect disc space much. The only thing it DOES affect is performance.

          1. well technically code *can* do something about asset size.. and that’s when assets are procedurally generated on execution of the game

kkrieger ist a pretty nifty example of what can be achieved that way
but that’s not what’s happening with mario kart 8 anyway, nothing here is procedurally generated upon execution of the game

            1. Yeah, technically it can be done. But Mario Kart 8 doing it is very unlikely. I don’t think there are really that many games doing it, anyways. The only kind of games that comes to mind are games with randomly generated levels (such as Rouge Legacy, Binding of Isaac, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon or almost any Dungeon Crawler).

              1. well these usually use scripts to allocate already existing assets in a new order

i was talking about actually generated assets.. *very* few games do that indeed

i can really recommend giving kkrieger a shot.. it’s available for free and should run on win7

it’s not a good game by any means but it’s impressive nevertheless

      2. the size if definitely due to them reusing a lot of textures in several levels, and making most of the characters have solid colors.
also the engine even though it has bin updated, has literally had more then 8 versions to make it slimmer, faster, and more efficient.

im not surprised this game is less then 6GB, it well be fully featured, but its not like their making Skyrim (which was about 8GB before DLC) so its not crazy, in fact it may even be a bit big

  3. Small size for a game with no real content.
Just a bunch of courses they already made and then some new crappy ones that will be remade with Mario kart 9.

Just let the series die already!

    1. “Small size for a game with tons of content. Just a bunch of amazing courses they’ve remade in full HD and then some new awesome ones that will be remade with Mario Kart 9. Let this series live forever!”. Fixed it. :)

    2. Are you Sasori in cheap ass disgust because I must point out that like that idiot’s trolling, your mask isn’t working either.

      1. Stranga x sasorideidaraobi BFF

Oh no I’m over here. Also I disagree too. The recent Nintendo Driect is enough for evidence.

  4. diffenily not buying this shit. this game barley has any new content. even Mario kart wii have more gb used than this game. it looks likes there barley anything new in the game. is this their pathetic excuse for making wii u only 32gb of space. cheaptendo as usually.

    1. so the quality of a game is suddenly down to its size? skyrim was just over 6GB

well i’ll buy it and i’ll have fun with it.. you go and download some 50GB moloch if you consider that fun

      1. Skyrim was as much of a rushed glitchfest as BF4 and its ain’t worth the time while it was inconsistent as fuck.

    2. You need to shut your fucking mouth. :) You can’t even spell correctly. This game is going to be amazing as fuck and you know it will be. Sell your Wii U already and buy your 360 and get the fuck out of here. Do it for everyone, please. :D

    3. Quit lying man. The only reason you’re saying that you are “diffenily not buying this shit.” is because you can’t afford it.

It’s true because you are always having an excuse to hate on any Wii U games ( despite owning one) to appear that you don’t like it ( but in reality you do).

You know you want this game but you can’t because you want to “fit in” owning a 360.

      Tell me I’m wrong…

      1. Why did you have to say that? It’s a lot easier to hate your guts when you don’t spew logical shit like that…

    4. Valve Admiral GLaDOS

Okay, have fun with your unconventional terrorist bomb while we live long and healthy lives while your life is cut short by your own stupidity.

    5. Mommy, your dumbass pet monkey to talking its brokeback ass again.

Now back to topic, HTF would you know the size of MK Wii (6) when it was never publicly clarified?

Dumbass Xbot Imposing Nintendo Intelligence Exposed.

    6. If sasori knew anything about hardware, he would know that Wii U has flash memory in the capacity of 32GB. It’d not a 32GB HDD. 32GB HDD don’t exist anyways.

Also if he were a hardware engineer he would also know that flash memory has a much faster R/W rate than a standard mechanical HDD.

As he failed to even realise those two crucial points, his mind is as useless as a teapot.

Xbots = Pure Xbots that hates everything else but the Microsoft Realm and Xboxes…

So clearly you’re not an Xbot if I’m not mistaken…

    7. Stranga x sasorideidaraobi BFF

You’re kidding, right? They added new features, like voice chats, able to upload videos to Youtuble, and hosting tournaments.

Not only that, the racing mechanic is very different, comparing all other Mario Kart games. I played countless racing, online. (Like thousands hours)

      – Based on first demo, you can snake again (kinda) like in DS version.
      – Only to hold one item in a time.
      – Bumping each others increase speeds or a boost.
      – More routes than ever due this ‘anti-gravity’ features

  5. Even with just the 32G of space in the Deluxe Model, this game will be well worth it to have digitally so you can boot it up anytime.

  6. SherlockWillFightBilbo

    Mario Kart Wii – 2.60
The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword – 4.09
    Super Mario Galaxy – 3.28
    Mario Kart 7 – 0.66

The size of the file means absolutely nothing.

    1. Actually, I think Crytek is the king of textures. I can only imagine what Crysis 4 would look like on freaking PC. XD

  7. Well, I’ll definitely buy it. My only concern is the voice chat just in the lobby area but, who cares?

    Just give it to me!

  8. Not hyped about this game anymore since you cannot play multiplayer with the Gamepad not having a split screen.

First time I realised that Nintendo has become Lazy was with the Wii, when they focused on casuals and made games like zelda and Mario appealing to babies and casuals, they are still a talented company, reason they not on a verge of bankruptcy like Sony, but they have become damn dumb and lazy like thier baby fans

E.g. Ubisoft has invested more time, money and manpower in making ambitious wii u games such as Ac3 and Ac4, Splinter Cell,Zombie U,and RayMan just to name a few.

    What has Nintendo released

A gamecube zelda game rehashed in HD, (with no additional content but sold as a brand new IP at full price)

A Wii 2d Mario game rehashed in HD
A 3ds Mario game rehashed in HD
A Wii donkey Kong game rehashed in HD
A 3ds Mario kart game rehashed in HD
And a Wii strategy adventure game rehashed in HD

NO EXCLUSIVE NEW IP LIKE ZOMBIE U,THAT SHOWS WHAT THE GAMEPAD IS ALL ABOUT

UBISOFT HAVE SHOWED MORE LOVE TO WII U THEN NINTENDO

By releasing more games and greater variety

Then the nintenyear olds turn around and start throwing tantrums and wish death upon Ubisoft

    Mindless zombiefied fanboys

    Dont worry

SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE 2 for Wii U “LEAKED”

    official e3 teaser “LEAKED”

    1. Super Mario 3D World is literally the best Mario game EVER made. There’s no “rehash”. It was like a whole new Universe. For me, it DESTROYS Galaxy in every way possible. :)

    2. Stranga x sasorideidaraobi BFF

Not again xD I agree thus. After the Tomodachi Collection is made. Which it took a huge time of development, for us. I begin to believe, that, Nintendo has something more to offer.

  9. LOL no surprise that this baby game would be so small. As it has been stated above, textures, audio, video and other resources are what increases the size of games. Since Nintendo still living in the 90’s, they still pretty much using the same trees, bushes, flowers they used back then and copy pasted over and over and over and over, and they use the same texture for all of them lololol. The grass in every single track must be made of the same one texture lololol. Then babies will say this game is “new” and “innovative” when the whole tracks are created from the same objects copy pasted everywhere lololol. Lets not get into the audio, Nintendo is still using the same old MIDI sounds it been using in their games for the last 30 years lololol. Nintendo has no idea how to do full voice acting in a game lololol. Have no idea why it takes them so long to make such a baby game that has minimal audio, and tracks are made of the same objects copy pasted everywhere. Oh look that windmill over there looks exactly the same as the one I just passed 2 seconds ago lolololol. Another rehash Nintendo game that babies will say it’s “new” lolololol.
