Nintendo’s Wi-Fi connection will close today, May 20, for various Wii and DS games. So whether you’re looking to race for the last time against online players in Mario Kart Wii, or travel to your neighbour’s town in Animal Crossing: Wild World for the DS, you better act quickly. With less than four hours until the online service’s permanent closure, you can check out the list, here, to see all of the games affected.
Remember Nintendo’s Wi-Fi Connection For Wii And DS Games Closes Today

Why’d they have to close the servers?oh, wait, it’s nintendo and their anti-online shit, i almost forgot, good thing they have internet in their offices, little kids could be in grave danger, they better pull the plug on mario kart 8 before someone bumps into some kid online, shit like that at is known as sexual assault to nintendo people
They’re closing because GameSpy was bought out. They hosted the servers for them.
It’s because GameSpy’s servers are closing down on the 30th. All Wii and DS game servers are powered by GameSpy.
I don’t think I ever used it more than a few times anyways.
Nooooooo…. Well, at least it was fun while it lasted. Good thing MK8 will replace MK Wii and SSB will replace Brawl for online :’)
Let us pay our respect…

The only pity is Mario Kart Wii, which gets replaced by Mario Kart 8 in only 10 days. Due to the slowdowns while playing, Brawl never worked in a way that was fun, so I have no regrets for that game. I’m absolutely fine with this! Just gonna have my last Mario Kart Wii online-match now ;-)

This theme pretty much sums up how we should feel about this.
Sad day indeed.
R.I.P. DS/Wii Wi-Fi 2004-2014
Ten years of great service for Nintendo fans internationally and it’s time for us to move on to other platforms that need more attention (Wii U included).
If anyone is interested, I uploaded my final Nintendo Wi-Fi experience for you to watch! :)
I’ll miss being able to play GoldenEye and Pokémon B/W 2 online. But hopefully now Nintendo can fully focus on the Wii U and 3DS’s online features.
Tis a sad day indeed, but all things have to come to an end,
i can still play
Too bad so sad. I’m glad I got my fill years ago.
This is more than just some online stuff shutting down, it’s the end of the Wii and DS generation, the one that invited millions of people like me in to the world of gaming. Consumed most of my time and money the last six years and was the best thing I ever asked for my birthday.
Good bye Wii and may the Wii U be the same success you were for me.
After doing some last minute genning in gen 5 Pokemon for XY and reading a message saying that the online service was discontinued at 10 am, it’s sad to see the wifi close after 10 years.
It felt like yesterday that I played Mario Kart DS and Pokemon Diamond online, but now, it’s on to bigger and better things with 3DS and Wii U’s wifi. I wonder how it’ll play out when the online for both are eventually shut down.
bout time
Has it already been shut down? I just got home and wanted to play Mario Kart Wii online for one last time but won’t let me
Well, at least some hackers managed to save the online for Mario Kart Wii! I’m playing it now!
